| Howdy peeps ... How are they hanging?
It's a sunny-ish day here! After weeks of dark, dismal, wet and windy days, I actually can see blue sky, feel a cool breeze and MOW the lawn. Amazing how the weather make a difference to your mood.

| G'day!
I used to have a bumper sticker that said, "Howdy, damn it!" Yes, I ared a Aggie.
Our temperature swings from the high 30's to high 70's almost daily.
Ever heard the phrase, "Under the weather"?
I watched part of the History Channel mini-series The Bible. The offspring saw part of their trailer that showed the scourging of Christ, said "That's really brutal!" and ran away. I watched Abraham raise a knife to Isaac, Sarah running and crying looking for Isaac, the Angels of God slaughtering the people of Sodom and Gomorrah with swords, then I turned it off. Not going to watch the rest.
Reading the stories is one thing, seeing it with live people (not animated) crying, screaming, wailing, bleeding, etc. is something else. That's partly why I will never watch The Passion of the Christ. The other part is that I would be reading the subtitle the entire time, very annoying.

| Hmmm. I recorded "The Bible" but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Now I don't think I want to. Thanks Julie. | |

| The sets and costumes and makeup and graphics are amazing. The acting is realistic and good. My problem is that this is my holy book which is about faith, not gritty and gruesome realism.
You might want to watch parts and skip parts. I'd probably do that if I had it recorded.

| Why do documentaries and films only focus on the gruesome and controversial aspects in the story of the Bible? There is so much more to share. I enjoy authenticity in my viewing but usually tempered with balance. Which is why I rarely watch the commercial news broadcasts.
Randoms:
Chilli with my pasta tonight. Might cure the sinuses.
Typing this post from my new toy.
My 5 year old nephew is learning the drums at school. I laugh at his parents' expense.

| My kid asked for drums once. I put sticks in the kid's hands and said hit the table in rhythm with me. Kid tried then gave up. Never heard about drums again. I've noticed that sex and violence and gore have escalated over the decades in TV and movies. I love the disaster movies from the 70's and 80's, like the Airport ones, Earthquake, and favorite Towering Inferno (Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Richard Chamberlain ). Tons of people get maimed and killed, but you almost never see the body or parts, and there's rarely any gore. I invite my kid to watch them with me and I never had to say "Look away" or "Cover your eyes". They showed people falling from 20, 30 floors up, but they don't show them splatting. You see them fall into or behind cars or rubble, or they just cut away to another scene. You know they died, no gore needed. The stories were the selling points. As for Bible stories, I still love Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner . The graphics are cheesy by today's standards, but it was beautifully and tastefully and classily done. Taste and class. I miss them. | |

Haven't seen The Ten Commandments in years. I think I'll check amazon for a good price on a copy.

| Here in Atlanta we have been having rain storms one minute, and sunny gloriousness the next. Cold, tho. Unusual for this time of year.
I've tried everything, Nay. Just learned to deal with it. Hope you feel better, as well. Sinus issues can be miserable!

| Honestly, as an alternative treatment Sami, I can personally and highly recommend accupuncture for sinus problems. Hasn't Spring started over there yet? Our temps have dropped to much milder numbers in the past three weeks but the days are still so gray.
Dallas!! I have the perfect dog (again ) for you. Isn't she adorable? Not desexed so we could make some beagle babies. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mango-hill/dogs-puppies/pure-bred-female-beagle-moving-overseas/1015478543#

| Nay, they can't get that dog out of Oz. And get well.
It's literally freezing outside right now, 32F (0C). High today is predicted at 70F (21C).
sami, hope you find a solution to your sinus problems. I have dust issues at home so I'm sure that contributes to my on and off stuffy nose. Husband has a cold right now, probably from the grocery store.
Richard Chamberlain was really cute in The Slipper and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella, a musical movie. He sang and danced.
Charlton Heston tends to grit his jaw. I haven't paid any attention to his real life. I try to ignore actors and their politics, but I do enjoy laughing at their antics. Fame does not equal intelligence.

Good grief, that is quite a range in temps for one 24 hour period. - LegoJulie wrote:

| Working a LOT of overtime because of the EU inspection this week...which went well, by the way. And on another note, I'm exhausted. Exhausted to the point of, well, exhaustion, apparently. I was getting gas at the gas station on the way home from work tonight when I fell. I tripped over the gas hose and landed on my left knee and right hand. What's really disturbing is the fact that others were there but only one elderly gentleman asked if I was okay. I was writhing in pain on the parking lot and no one other than this one gentlemen seemed to care....have we grown this cold....? | |

| Hi everyone,
DK so sorry to hear about your fall! I hope your injuries are nothing serious. It is sad to see how so many in society just don't want to get involved. I hope you're feeling much better asap.

| Never seen Justified. Looked up a clip. Very heavy western accent. I suppose that takes getting used to for foreigners. Aussies are hard to understand here, especially with local slangs like sheila and dinkum.
DK, a lot of people wait to see if anyone else would do anything, or if the fallen would get up on their own. Unless they're very young or very old, obviously infirmed or injured, or right next to me, I wait, especially if I were alone. If they don't get up or show signs of getting up in 10-15 seconds, I'll do something.
If someone were writhing in pain, I would check the person, but be ready to jump out of reach in case they try to hit or kick me. Some people get really ticked off when they're hurt or embarrassed.
Poeple in general have grown colder because manners and courtesies have left the planet, and more and more creeps and criminals are out there. Some good Samaritans have been sued. Some get cussed at or hit. Some become victims of crimes. Being nice seems to be a liability nowadays.

| That's awful, Donna. Some people are certainly lacking in compassion but others assume you'll be okay and leave you alone. In your situation, a simple question from one of those onlookers would have ascertained your injury even if they didn't physically move towards you. I would have sarcastically called out "I'm oooook."
Time change, Julie? So when you roll out of bed each morning all pumped for the day - chewing out the brainless and annoying - you've actually lost an hour's work??
