I think I did something foolish.
I went to the local animal shelter to make a donation. Bad move. I walked out with a one year old calico named Tina. She had been there for six mounts and they were over-run with kittens. (if you know what I mean) I'm not sure that I'm even ready for another cat, especially a half wild baby that been in a cage since Jan. She let me pet her a little before she hid behind the couch. I think she wants to be a house cat, but doesn't know how. I'm shocked that I adopted her, and not sure that I can do this. Tigger hasn't been gone a month. But she needed a home and someone to love her. So I guess I had to try.
Wish me luck.

Good luck, Bella! It wasn't foolish, and you're not being unfaithful to Tigger. I'm sure he's watching you getting retrained and laughing his whiskers off. You're a cat-mama. You live with a cat. That's what you do. Are you going to rename her? I was told to rename my shelter cat to give it a new beginning.

Bravo Shar.
Why on earth would you second guess a kind, generous, entirely HUMAN act? Any animal in a cage deserves a home and you will give little *please God* soon to be renamed 'Tina' a safe and happy life. You haven't made a mistake.
As someone relatively new to the pet owner scene, I've had some learning curves with my boys. In fact, I'm still living with some peculiar behaviours from my 2nd boy which I believe are rooted in how he was raised before making his way to Bud and I.
So do your new little companion a huge service and just love and enjoy her as much as you did Tigger and eventually she will trust and love you back. It worked for me and my tri-coloured beagle shadow.

"Tina come get some ham!" *cue Napoleon Dynamite*
The kitty will be fine, it's a big change for her as well and she just needs time to adjust. You know what to do, Shara.
It's back to work today. Today's forecasted high temp 106F. This is getting sickening.

The searing heatwave you're experiencing in the mid-west was actually on OUR news today. Stay cool indoors if necessary, Donna. Make sure all cats and precious Coco has oodles of water. I was told that filling an icecream container with water, freezing it and then putting in their water bowl in summer is a good idea.
Same goes for you!

Irony of ironies - Wouldn't you think with the invention and current cheap prices of GPS that old farts in their cars would move a tad quicker?

Old farts don't know how to use GPS's. They don't trust new-fangled doohickeys.
GPS's aren't 100% reliable. They have taken us astray many times, usually when we're in unfamiliar locations. One time it led us to a subdivision about 5 miles away from the actual place. I've seen roads that don't show up on the GPS. I've seen roads on the GPS that aren't on Earth. Again, in unfamiliar places.

RIP, Mr. Borgnine.
Thanks Nay, yes, the heatwave has FINALLY broken!
Who would have thought I'd be happy seeing temps that are only in the 90's.
It was a pretty miserable weekend for me. Between the extreme heat (even with A/C, the house was 82F inside) and to top it off, I pinched a nerve in my shoulder so I've had to lie down a lot. You know you've officially become old when you have to use Ben Gay.
Happy Monday, everyone....

Thanks, you too Sami!
My dog has lost all but her canine teeth in her lower jaw. I see two nubs growing back that have just broken through the gumline. And I'm going to get her spayed this Friday.
My baby is growing up.

I will not be punting my dog any time soon. I mean, just look at this face. This is not a face that encourages punting....only snuggling.

Awww thanks Sami!! She's still a brat....
I didn't realize how big she was getting until I started comparing pictures this evening.
The pup is getting spayed this Friday. I drive down to the parents house tomorrow. Their vet costs half as much as mine. Still, my baby is being operated on this Friday.

Small dogs aren't my thing, unless I get to punt them.
She's going to be miserable for a while. Poor girl. She'll become an it on Friday.

Today's the day, little Coco. Say goodbye to those bits. I hope the operation goes smoothly and you get mucho treats from your guilt-riddled owner.

We've been getting a lot of rain around here. The local creeks are flooded and lots of houses in those areas have feet of water inside. They keep showing horses standing in water up to their tummies. I'm on a hill so no floods up here.
How's Coco? How's DK?

Haven't you said before that you needed rain, Julie? Just not that much. This morning, I found mould on my fridge door seal - I am unimpressed - but that's better than a couple feet of water through my home. Whilst not on a hill, it would take a lot of rain to flood through my end of town.
Isn't ComicCon on at the moment? Maybe Coco's operation is just a cover for Donna to don the Princess Leia outfit and meet Mark Hamill?

I'm so glad I took advantage of the gloriously sunny weather in the last week of my holidays to do garden work. My lavendar bushes are chest high, the white climbing La Marque rose is close to filling one entire fence and the olive tree is solid. It makes such a difference to look out the front windows and see tidy beds with growing plants rather than weeds, dirt and the boys long dead dinosaur bones.
During the dreariness of yesterday's wet weather, I worked inside and watched movies. Michelle Williams was a tour de force in "My Week with Marilyn". I lost sight of her as an actress and actually thought on numerous occasions that I was watching Miss Monroe. This morning, "The Artist" is on my viewing menu.
