I'm here, I've just been busy. The work week was rough this week.
Random: I'm watching Hillbilly Handfishing on The Animal Planet.

So rough that it reduced you to watching a fishing show, DK? Eek!
A passion for fishing has always eluded me. I understand that part of it is the quiet time on the water and that's fine. It's the handling and touching of the wet, wriggling thing that you've just yanked out of its safe haven that I have an issue with. My food needs to be faceless. I'm a coward like that.
Julie, you don't like being addicted to us???

I am now the owner of two beagle boys aged under three years, much to my mother's (sometimes not so) quiet dismay. They have taken a little while to sort out some jealousy issues but yesterday, as I was working in the yard, both boys chased each other jostling for possession of a fluffy toy and did so without snarls, etc.
Today's agenda includes a visit to a friend in hospital, quick turn at work, weeding/mowing, an afternoon nap and a loooooong walk. Sunday's are usually good days.

Well, it isn't as though there's much to watch this time of year but re-runs, nature shows, sports, cooking or supernatural type shows---Me? I watch the spooky ones.

Sharabella, I'm glad you didn't get blown away.
Nay, that particular fishing show involves all the people, a dozen or so, getting into the waist-deep water and feeling in holes and brushes for fish, then grabbing said fish with bare hands. Sometimes they lie down and use bodies and legs to form barriers to trap fish then grab said fish with bare hands. It is very funny to watch prissy or scaredypeople try or try not to touch fish, or water, or mud, etc.
The novelty wore off for me in a show and a half.
We lose an hour next Sunday.

Heck, that would be amusing. Not to do, of course; just to watch the idiots.
Shar, are you in a tornado corridor? I saw the absolute destruction in poor Kentucky on this morning's news. Dear God, that looked awful.

We are in for heavy rain and thunderstorms here tonight and tomorrow. The boys stayed inside because it was due to start today and as you can imagine greeted me in a frenzy from being cooped up all day. Jordy is currently frolicking with one of Bud's toys at my feet as Bud gets his monthly wash/blow dry. He is such a happy boy and they have really bonded as brothers. I couldn't ask for more.
Julie, do you know anything about show dogs?

I am indeed. Luckily (at least for me) I live in the western end of Kentucky and most of the storms went a few miles north of my town, though 4 or 5 tornadoes were spotted in the county. The church that was shown in ruins was the church my boss's family attends. It was a scary week, and I have a feeling that the summer is going to be a stormy one. My heart goes out to those poor people who's lives are changed forever.
Glad to hear how well the boys are getting along.

Show dogs? I'm a cat person!
I've watch some dog show shows on TV. Those dogs are highly groomed and trained, and so are the people showing the dogs. Are you planning on showing yours? You'd have to dress up nicely and run with the dogs, and train the dogs. I don't think frolicking with bras is part of the show. Standing still a lot is.

Shar, please stay safe. Don't go to work unless everything is clear and make sure someone knows your movements at all times. Take care.
Oh Julie, that there were a bra stealing and twirling section to a Dog Show! Imagine the audience reaction - men would be unhooking their wives and tossing them around like a Hooters Bar. My boys would win comfortably in this section.
Rather - I meant Jordy has been trained to stand in a stack position with his back legs firmly planted away from his body. This stance is interfering with him sitting. I want him to sit to receive his treats from me, not stand like this. Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

I've seen my in-laws try to teach their dogs to sit by firmly saying Sit, then pushing down, and/or patting, on the dogs' rumps until they fold their hind legs and put butts on the ground.
You could bring out treats, which would of course summon them to you. First tell Buddy to sit and praise & treat him if he does, then do the same with Jordy, including the rump pushing/patting if needed. No treat for him if he doesn't sit. Maybe he'll imitate Bud eventually.
I'm assuming the command to stand stack isn't Sit.

Done all of this multiple times when training Bud and then with Jordy's arrival. It hasn't worked.

This is my next step. I have been advised to ask his owner/trainer if she uses hand signals for sit, stand, walk etc which might explain why he doesn't listen to me. As he is an ex-show dog, anything is possible I suppose.
Gee Julie, you gave good advice for a 'cat person'. I say that while holding my fingers in an anti-christ cross position.

If you had a cat, you wouldn't have this problem to begin with. A cat ain't gonna stand if a cat don't wanna stand. You'd never have to teach it to sit. Heck, the cat would go one step further and put all four paws underneath and LIE down.

You don't train cats. Cats condescend to train their poor, dumb humans, because they feel sorry for us not being able to figure out a routine for ourselves.

Next time you do jigsaw puzzles, throw some catnip toys in the other side of the room.
