DK, could be cats. Mine destroyed quite a few light strings.
Nay, can't wait to see the roses in full bloom.
Hubby walked around yesterday sneezing and blowing his nose. Took all day before he admitted he has a cold. Hope I don't get it.

So that means your husband is slow to admit the obvious, Julie?
My Lamarque climbing rose may be shifted after a little while. I'm having second thoughts as to the best location.

Yesterday we had a blast at the beach. Because it was low tide, there were small pools of cool water with little crabs and fish left behind. Bud and his mate frolicked joyously in and out, leaping and swimming. Everywhere the big dog went, along followed the beagle shadow. At times, all you could see was Bud's tan head and the white tip of his tail - the rest was under water learning to paddle! Sheer fun for all.

I don't think it's the cats, they don't really mess with the tree anymore. They're old and somewhat lazier these days.
Speaking of old, my old tube powered Zenith TV finally bit the dust last night. RIP.

Grandma died in 1998, so the TV was at least 13 years old. I have a new one on the way.
Cute dog pics, Nay!

This week, Australia received its first female Attorney General. It has not been without controversy though.
Lately, I have become quite enamoured of our national radio station ABC Classic FM. It plays classical music, operas and some fantastic interviews. This week, I listened to an interview with Fatima Bhutto, niece of and critic to Benazir.
The US must be celebrating with the safe return of its armed forces from Iraq. God bless them and all who serve their country well.

I saw Ms Etta live a few years ago. I have been to gazillions of concerts and shows, but that was the best one I ever went to....hands down. I'm heartbroken that she is so ill.

Your were very lucky indeed, Sami. Her type of soulful voice covers me in goosebumps. They don't make these characters any more.

The biggest problem with singers today is AUTOTUNE. It is evil. It is used on everyone and everything and it makes everyone sound dull with no nuances. Soulless. Autotune was created to help bad singers stay on pitch. Yay, everyone is on pitch now, but you lose so much. Soul and Gospel styles cannot survive Autotune. Anything with slides, slurs, bends or deliberate off-pitches get destroyed by that thing.
Great singers, even good singers, do not need Autotune. You can tell the good ones when they sing during interviews, not recorded or concerts (of which many are recorded and lip synched). I have a hard time listening to current music because of that cursed Autotune. I can hear a lot of fixed pitches, and I can't stand those metallic, mechanical voices they do on purpose. Ugh!
That's one reason no new singers can begin to measure up to the old masters like Etta James.
Yep, touched a nerve.

-Indeed, You can no longer tell singers apart. They all sound the same ( loud and bland ), and if you notice, they can't seem to perform without dancing----possibly because they rarely have real songs.

A lot of the songs my kid & cohorts listen and dance to are from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Really good dance music from then.
Bugs the heck out of me hearing grade school kids singing words like "let's go all the way tonight" and "had a manage-a-trois" (songs by Katy Perry). They have no idea what they're saying while I cringe. I explained the meanings to my kid and got "Ew, gross!" in reply. I learned that the kids don't care about the meanings of the words, they just sing them.
They're selling promiscuous unsafe sex to single-digit aged kids. That's so wrong.

I couldn't agree more, Julie. Most lyrics in modern songs seem to be about sexual activity not the emotion of love. Songs and artists don't seem to be as original as they were years ago. That may be why Lady Gaga is such a hit with younger people ... they're not used to innovative, imaginative personas. Instead, they have the artificially, manufactured Justin Beiber and Britney Spears of the world.
Let's listen to some ooooold music, shall we.
