Thanks all! I have some appointments set up this weekend, one of which is a freaking spanking brand new house that isn't even finished yet. Not sure I can afford it though....
Random: My dog has taken to hiding her Milk Bones. It's pretty cute to watch her put it somewhere in my house thinking it's "hidden". It's even cuter when she has an epiphany... "OMG, I have a Milk Bone hidden (insert hiding place) there!!!" Then she jumps up and runs to said location, grabs her treat, then runs off somewhere to eat it.

Donna, does she walk around with a bone in her mouth whimpering because she can't find somewhere to hide it though?
Even when I try to help, Bud runs away and then comes directly back to me whimpering. It's like a request "Can you put this back in the doggy bag aka. fridge and save it for me later?"

Have you read about the mother of the last undiscovered Moors Murder victims has passed away without knowing her son's whereabouts? The truly diabolical Brady and Hindley murdered five young children in the mid 1960s. Hindley has since died but Brady won't release the resting place of one young boy until after his own death. Far too late for that grieving mother.

I've just read that film director Tony Scott has committed suicide. My sympathies go to his family. A sad day indeed.

They ruled it a suicide? I saw it yesterday and it said under investigation.
Wonder if he got diagnosed with something horrible lately.

Thanks Sami! I thought it was time for a change. It's been such a long, hot, dry summer, I'm almost willing Fall to come.
Hi Julie, Nay, and Lady Nola! I was also saddened by the news about Tony Scott. One of my friends wondered the same thing, that perhaps he had been diagnosed with something. My prayers go out for his family and friends. If it was suicide that only further compounds the devastation of losing a loved one.
Hope everyone has a good day. (Yes, despite the fact that it is Monday.)

I've read comments on news sites that suggest Tony Scott had inoperable brain cancer. Even if it was a physical condition as opposed to an emotional one, it is still a dramatic and final answer.

She had a damn good innings, didn't she. Such a spontaneously funny broad.

Some photos of my weekend madeover of entrance/corner of verandah nook. The easy chair is Tasmanian Oak, secondhand and cost $40. I aim to get it re-covered though. The magazine stand, also secondhand, cost $15 and the two prints on either side of the study door were a verrrrrrrrrrry belated birthday gift from my sister.

Nice, Nay! Now that I'm getting a new home, I'm going to have to start looking at ways to decorate. Second hand/antique shops might be the way to go.

My house is full of stuff my parents and in-laws gave away. New furniture prices scare me. I like sales.
Nay, that corner looks really nice. You could also add a tie on seat cushion.

Thanks for the compliments, Julie and Donna. I actually prefer to buy second hand because they're often more interesting. My clothes, furniture, hardware, books. etc. When it goes hand in hand with saving money, how wrong can it be?

Sorry I missed so much.

Love the chair, and yep, a tie on cushion would be good (and an easy way to change a color scheme)

Hi, Sharabella. Welcome back!
I remember watching the Apollo 11 moon landing with bouncy astronauts on our 12" black & white TV. I'm old.

I was wondering what happened to you, Sharabella. Welccome back!
I hope they get my house finished in time for me not to have to live with my brother for about 2-3 weeks, but I'm not planning on it. After they finish the house, I have to wait another 2 weeks or so before the loan goes through. The USDA wants a completion inspection of the house, and they can't do that until the house is completed, of course. But I guess it will all work out. I'm just not looking forward to not only moving twice, but being a refugee with a dog and two cats for several weeks.

You'll survive living with your brother for a few weeks. Or you can live with your parents for a few weeks. Your parents' dog likes your dog. Where are you going to put your stuff during that time?
Where is my rain?
I hope we get a good freeze this winter. All these bugs have to die.

I'll have to split up my stuff between my brother and my parent's house. The dog isn't a problem, it's the cats. I'm not sure how that 'adjustment' is going to take.

Believe me, the end result will be worth the temporary inconveniences and frustrations.

Over here again, Julie. Lovely night of solid rain with a few thunder grumbles to scare my 2nd boy.
