| DK, I'm sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. Could it be allergies? I've heard that people who have never had allergies are having them this year because of our (sorry Nay )mild winter. I'm one of them. I hope you feel better soon. | |

| DK--I hope you get better soon and hope you are able to rest.
Nay--You're freezing and it's warm and humid here. There has to be a place in this world where things are truly mild. Stay warm!

| Oh, forgot my random!
I had an opportunity to do some cool things this morning while I was on the clock. It's going to be very warm so my buddies and I are probably going to cook out and watch movies this weekend instead of doing anything adventurous. Recommendations?

| "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.
Texas was once it's own republic also. I only know the Texas pledge from attending my kid's morning assemblies. They say it every day after the US pledge and morning prayers.
My back hurts. | |

Invictus, Bright Star and a superb documentary called Black Gold (coffee industry). It will MAKE you rethink Starbuck's coffee.

Thanks! I put Bright Star on my list after you suggested it last week. I am afraid to think about giving up my Starbucks, though! Love the pics of your puppy! Random: I never see my other roommate even though he cooks the meals because I work a crazy schedule. In fact, he actually brought my dinner to work tonight because I was so busy. He is going to take the day off from work tomorrow (I am always off on Fridays) and we are going to do something fun together. Can't believe I am spending another day away from home though...

Forgot to add the random. Finally visited the new Mexcan restaurant that opened last weekend a couple of miles from here. Was a bit concerned but was relieved when this one actually has Mexican people running it. It was quite good.

Whatever happens to "Richard Sands"? Didn't he come over on the MF?

| Love the mornings. I usually sit on my back porch and watch the squirrels and birds eat from my bird feeders. I sometimes see a rabbit--lucky me! I equally love the late evenings and I love to sleep outside.
It's hot and humid here but I don't want to be inside all day. I live in an area with beautiful hills and mountains so I am taking the buddies exploring. I always find some beautiful gem that surprises me even though I have lived here for a long time. We just might have to see if from an air conditioned vehicle, though!

| You have a back porch too, Kayanne? When do you have time to enjoy it? Random: It's been storming all morning. Oh and congrats to the Chicago Blackhawks. | |

PJ--I will not live in a house that is mine without porches! I don't have one at my other roommate's house and I hate it! Don't you just love porches? I have about two mornings a week where I am here at my house and can sit outside. I could never give my "porch time" up! It's the simple things in life that keep us sane!

| Yes, k, you're so right. The simple things do keep us sane. I don't have a back porch, but I do enjoy our screened-in room.

| I try to sit out on my screened porch in the morning with my tea/coffee and watch the humming birds at the feeder and sit out again before bed and look at the stars.
We had a huge deck when I lived in the mountains with an outside fireplace as the evenings could get in low fifties. It was lovely sitting out there, smelling the wood smoke and pine, sipping hot coco and listening to the sounds of the woods. I loved hearing the call of wolves and staring at the Hale Bopp comet.
Here, we have a pond behind the house and the frogs are always in chorus.

| Random:
Am I a bad person because I think idiots such as Abby Sunderland should contribute to their rescue cost? A specially equipped QANTAS jet was commissioned to search for this girl. One experienced Australian sailor (interviewed on the radio) said that this is a terrible time of the year to be travelling across the Indian Ocean and that her boat isn't even designed for this type of travel.
Sometimes I just shake my head.

| Her parents should pay, yes. I can't believe they all seem to be experienced sailors and they allowed her to take off like that. It seems people like to risk their lives to get famous.
Kind of put me to mind of that woman who's trying to become the fattest woman. Anyone hear about her? What a claim to fame! She has kids and a husband and he seems to just want to bask in her notoriety and she won't survive. I feel sorry for her kids.
It's very hot here today. More storms predicted for tonight. I had a day yesterday where I was in this "funk" all day, like a brain fog. Today, I'm ready to make a plan, get organized and get it together!

Sometimes I just shake my head. Funny you should mention this, because when I heard they found her, I thought, so who is going to pay for all the rescuing? Someone's going to have to dig deep into their pockets.

| It was a french boat nearby who finally collected her yesterday, Alice. But here is some more detail. AGE NOT TO BLAME, says teenage sailor Abby Sunderland Paige Taylor From: The Australian June 14, 2010 ABBY Sunderland, plucked from the Indian Ocean after a massive international rescue effort, is miffed, saying people pounced on her case only after something went wrong. The 16-year-old sailor is expected to reach dry land tonight after being found in what West Australian Water Police described as "the middle of bloody nowhere" by a team of experienced observers who flew from Perth in a Qantas jet. "Crazy is the word that really describes everything that has happened best . . . it seems everybody is eager to pounce on my story now something bad has happened," Abby blogged yesterday after being rescued by the French fishing vessel Ile de la Reunion on Saturday evening. "There are plenty of things people can think of to blame for my situation: my age, the time of year and many more," she said after three days adrift and two flights -- one to find her and another to check on her safety. "The truth is I was in a storm and you don't sail through the Indian Ocean without getting in at least one storm. As for age, since when does age create gigantic waves and storms?" Guided by one of four emergency beacons on board her boat Wild Eyes, the Australian search team concentrated their efforts by dividing the windows of the Qantas airbus with Post It notes. Volunteer Michael Wood was the first to see Abby's yacht early on Friday afternoon, and shouted "Contact!" By then Abby had only a VHF radio, which tends to work only within line of sight. In snatched conversations as the plane flew 500m overhead, she was able to tell Michael Wear, of the WA Water Police, that she was safe and her yacht was still afloat. In subsequent flyovers, Sergeant Wear told her a rescue vessel was on its way. The yacht's mast had snapped during a 360-degree roll. As Canberra said Australian taxpayers would foot part of the rescue bill, the Californian teenager said she would still like to make another world circumnavigation attempt. | |

Sometimes I just shake my head. I agree! Did you hear the story of the balloon boy here in the States? A bit different because his parents deliberately set up the hoax but I remember being so worried for that child then finding out it was a hoax. Frustrating stuff!
