| We DO bring our lives onto the Forum .... well some of us do. As to the 95% PR/5% worthwhile information issue, we can only pass on what we receive.
If it looks like crap and smells like crap, it usually is crap. If GB doesn't start focuses on films rather than celebrity, his career will be non-existent.

| The good thing about has-been celebrities is that they end up on the convention circuits. Then we peons get to talk to them and take pictures of/with them and get autographs and such. | |

Steve didn't make himself tabloid fodder. Therefore, there was plenty of set pictures and photoshoots and projects to post and talk about. With Butler, lately if it wasn't for the fodder and the pics of him groping random women and pap pictures and fake PR vacations to promote his Aniston movie, there wouldn't be anything to talk about. It's fun when there's a balance, but lately the balance is lacking.

| Because Steve isn't tabloid fodder, his forum goes weeks sometimes with nothing posted about him. Most old fans have jumped ship for lack of material.
I come over here and this place has new Gerry stuff every week, sometimes everyday. It's great fun.
The nice members here don't hurt, either.
Y'all should post all Gerry things, good and bad. Otherwise you won't know why other people are dissing him. And you could be accused of defending him or keeping things to yourselves.

| Alrighty then! I have a rant so clear the decks.
What is wrong with the male youth of today?? Twice this morning I saw what passed genetically as boys of a teenage age dressed in brightly coloured singlets with wild shorts, dyed hair, make-up (at least gloss), thongs/flip flops and ..... walking with a girl!
They looked like females! Do young girls like this?
Where are the real men in this generation? Manly men. Not men in tights!

| It's the "vampire" thing. Those actors wear tons of white makeup, mascara, and lip stick, and look and act very, very feminine.
I could never be interested in any man prettier than I am.
Singlets? We call them wife-beaters.

| I'm dusting off the rant thread because I have a rant about men.
This guy at work likes me. You know how I know? He told another co-worker to ask me if I'm seeing someone. Okay, I can accept that I guess, but since he couldn't tell me himself all I gave him access to was my email. I don't know him that well, I said I'd like to get to know him first at work, talk to him, whatever...after all, we WORK together. I'm not against going with someone I work with, but you have to be careful because if things go sour, it can turn very awkward. But anyway, I digress....
The dude is as moody as a woman. In fact most of the men I work with act as if they have PMS...moody, whiny, etc. But whatever, I talk to him when he decides he wants to talk to me, but I play it cool. I hint to him that I like baseball. He gets tix to games, yet doesn't ask me to go with him. Mind you, he gets FREE tix, so it's not like I'm mooching off of him. But hell, he's the one who made the first move....well, sorta did....right? Right.
The one time he did ask if I wanted to do something, it was VIA EMAIL. Now granted I have not given him my phone number, but oh my goodness we see each other every damn day and if he was going to ask me out, be a man and do it in person. But whatever, I say what do you wanna do? His answer: "I dunno." Okay, I have hinted to you about what I want to do, etc.
So, I said all of that to say this...my OTHER co-worker (aka the "mediator") approaches me yesterday saying this guy wants to take me to a concert on Friday night, would I be interested. Um, he can't ask me in person or email or ask her to give him my number...nothing. Just have her ask me for him. I said I wasn't sure, because I'm getting work done on my car one night this week and won't be available (not a lie, it's true). So here I am feeling sorta guilty about it, until I realize...WHY THE HELL SHOULD I CALL THIS GUY BACK WHEN HE DOESN'T HAVE THE GUTS TO ASK ME OUT IN PERSON?
Not only that, but I find out this "date" is with two other women besides us. Um, no thank you. As much as I like the band, I have my pride. And besides, he didn't even include me in the lottery pool at work, which I'm also pissed about.
As much as I hate to say it, I'm beginning to see what Gerry was talking about in regards to American men not acting like men. For goodness sakes, what happened to men having the balls to approach a woman? I'm not that freaking scary and intimidating, am I?

| You might be intimidating, just by the way you are assertive and straightforward, but then I don't know how you carry yourself at work.
If he asked if you wanted to go to a concert, and he let you know it's with a bunch of friends, then it shouldn't be bad to have other women in the bunch (but it is kind of weird that the other friends are all women).
It's frustrating, huh.
Maybe you need to let him know how you feel. Go over and talk to him. Stop this mediator. Tell him, Hey, we talk to each other at work, why not ask me out yourself? I don't believe it's going to go that far if you two keep up the third person message service.
It's weird, though. If he really liked you, wouldn't he try to do anything to include you or get together with you? Maybe he's just clueless and if so, don't waste your time.

My question for DK is this: do you really want to date someone that shy or wussy or spineless?

| I realise you are ticked off, Donna, but honestly I could see myself in his shoes and acting the same way ... go-between, others around to cushion the group, indirect rather than face-to-face ... all high school behaviours I would not normally condone.
I don't want to get your hopes up but I think you might have a contender here, DK. He just needs coaxing.
But then, what do I know? Bring in the expert - DALLAS!

| Nope, he's not shy at all. In fact, when I first moved over into that building he yelled at me for eating some soggy salad left over from the company luncheon the day before. I was told he likes to push people and get a rise out of them. Teasing is one thing, but I don't think he was teasing. That's why I was so shocked when I heard he was interested in asking me out in the first place. Then again, I am the only single female working there, so I guess maybe he's just taking what is available.
It doesn't matter anyway, because there's no way in God's green earth I'm going to be able to go to that concert anyway. I am still trying to get the tires put on my car. They came in today (had to special order them), but the people who sold me the car didn't bother to tell me the wheel lock key wasn't there. And seeing as how it's not your standard car, to make a long story short, I had to go to the Chrysler dealer, have them order me 4 lugs, and tomorrow afternoon I have to take off work early AGAIN and spend about $100 just to have them break off the locks, so that I can then drive BACK to the tire place to have them try to put on the tires I was supposed to have put on this evening. End total: $900+ dollars.
Oh, and have I mentioned the A/C isn't working right, either? That's going to be another trip to the dealer to have them remove the dash to fix it.

| DK- my car also has locking lug nuts. I think they are standard on the type of car that I drive. The lug key is with the emergency jack in my trunk. It all came with the car. Can't the dealership use their key to take them off? If I didn't have the correct tool in my trunk, I can always have it done at the dealership. Maybe I am misunderstanding, but I don't understand why they have to break the locks. They should also be able to give or sell you a replacement key to use in the future. Unless these are some random locks that a previous owner put on or something.....
If so, why can't the tire place break them off? I don't understand why you have to go to the dealership when they don't have a key and would have to break them off too.
I'm sorry about all your car stress.

| I don't understand it either. It's a freaking CHRYSLER dealer, and they don't have the proper tool?? He said he could order the right one but he didn't know exactly which one to order, they come in "sets" which cost about $300. I asked him, "What are you going to do if someone else with a Crossfire comes to you with the same problem?" You'd think a Chrysler dealer should have access to all of the sets, even the more "exotic" Chryslers made by Mercedes Benz. No wonder they're in so much trouble, if this is how they do their business. The lock would have come with the car, but since I bought it used they either didn't have it when they got it, or they forgot to give it to me. The guy who sold me the oil told me to buy a Mustang, and now this afternoon the CHRYSLER mechanic went so far as to tell me to buy a Mustang. I'm beginning to think maybe I will. I've driven sports cars most of my driving life, and I've never had this much trouble replacing anything. | |

| Okay, I'm doing some internet research and I think I'm beginning to understand the problem. The locks come with exclusive keys...which would explain why the guy at the tire place said he'd have to plug in my VIN number to find out which one to order. Then the guy said they come in sets...so basically, I think it's that they don't want to fork out $300 for one key for one customer (and I sure as hell don't want to fork it out, either).
What I can do is buy another locking set later, with Mopar key included. But in the meantime they have to first remove these.
Sheesh, what a mess. Which brings me to this question...if the key is exclusive to the locks for anti-theft, all a thief has to do is break into your car and find the key anyway...unless you want to lug that thing with you everywhere you go - in your pocket, purse, etc. I mean, you can't leave the key in the house, what if you get a flat and need it???

| Yeah, but if someone is going to break into your car, they will probably just steal your entire car instead of just the tires.
My key is in my trunk with my jack kit and I leave it there. I don't know anyone who removes it. I don't think anyone is going to break into the car, just to steal the tires. It would take too long. The tires are expensive, high performance tires - but why not take the entire car? But the car has a pretty sophisticated anti theft system. Even if someone can get in it and disable the alarm, there is an ignition kill switch. They can't hot wire the car. If they jack up the car or try to tow it, kill switch is triggered as well the alarm. I doubt anyone is going to hang around and try to strip my tires while the alarm is sounding and lights are flashing etc. My type of car is rarely stolen, because of all the anti theft devices that are standard on the car.
I still don't get why a dealership doesn't have various keys. I'd call another Chevy dealership. I had a flat tire once and couldn't get the lug nut off b/c it was so tight (it had probably been put on with the power tools at the dealership). I called my dealership, they sent a flat bed truck with a loaner car on it, and took my car into the dealership while I went back to work. They replaced my tire and I picked it up after work. There was no additional charge for the tow or the loaner - just the cost of new tire. In fact, they apologized that I couldn't get my lug nut off! That's customer service, and they have a customer for life now. I don't get why Chevy can't fix the problem for you. This is why American car companies are failing. The car companies and dealers don't provide quality products with stellar customer service.
That's the end of my rant.....
