I watched GCB a few times. Everyone wore spiked heels and dripped rhinestone. It was funny.
Yep. I know. With my luck, the whole Caribbean will be washed away while I'm on the ship getting pulled into the Bermuda Triangle. I guess that explains it being cheap.

Get trip insurance or something like that, Shara. I wish you fair winds and smooth sailing, of course. Will need pictures!

I hope GCB's a parody, Shar. Shame it was cancelled. Beats me how the hell they walked in those shoes.
Glad you hear the crud is MIA, Julie.

I have seen people, certain groups, who walk around in spiked heels, first run designer clothes, some looking like they're 3 sizes too small, designer bags and accessories, and dripping in real and costume jewelry. They look really funny, and totally pretentious, in the company of people in jeans and shorts.

The spiked-heels brigade is everywhere. If it is not tastefully done, we Aussies call it "mutton dressed up as lamb".

Would you ever wear leather pants? For some reason they make me think of Ross (from Friends) and the talc powder.

Of course, jumbuck reference. Some of those ARE lambs. Some of them look like prostitutes, mistresses, sex toys, etc. The non-slutty ones look like they think they're 5 and playing dressup.
I would wear leather pants if the weather is cold enough, the pants are tailored for me to my liking, and free.
I have had lots of friends evolve into strangers.

Not sure I can ever recall playing dress up but I certainly made a few bows/arrows and slingshots and had an older cousin try to teach me make-up. An idyllic childhood in some ways - playing outdoors on long summer days, a dirty sunburnt little urchin.

My two year old niece thinks every time the phone rings that it must be for her. Has to speak to me multiple times every call. Now I yell at my sister to not hand the phone over! Yes, everything does belong to Coco, it would appear Sami.
Julie, Nay, I've had a lot of friends turn into strangers as well. But on the bright side, I've made some new friends to replace them. Such is life, I guess.

Old Bessy is supposed to be a common name for a milk cow.
Nay, the total eclipse in your neck of the woods is Wednesday morning. I hope you see it. If school is still in session, I hope you take your kids outside to see it. Make sure you have proper viewing equipment. May not be total in your area but should be pretty close. Don't miss it!

It was noticeably darker here for the eclipse and I'm a long way from Cairns. Looked as thought it was dusk with long shadows and a cooler dip in temperature. Amazing sensation.

Random Planning:
We are very close to Christmas summer holidays here that I have begun to think wistfully about my holiday plans. Off the top of my head ...
It's about time the next phase of my garden was started. I can see myself, with the heat that is coming, arising early and working while it is cooler.
My house will be painted over the Xmas period. White, dark grey, red - still need to choose the red. This is one of the events I have been dreaming about since I purchased three years ago. So so so exciting! I'll post some photos when I can.
My book reading list is growing:
Finishing "In the Valley of Beasts" by Erik Larsen. Incredible, true tale of the US Ambassador to Nazi Germany prior to WW11. His daughter becomes part of the Russia/Germany spy intrigue.
Next "Dark Places" by Gillian Flynn. Family murder mystery.
Then "In the Lake of the Woods" by Tim O'Brien. Wife of Vietnam vet mysteriously disappears. Suspicion falls on husband.
Then "The Financier" by Theodore Dreiser. A precursor to Wall Street Gordon Gekko greed.
Purchasing "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver. Missionary family in Belgian Congo.
Purchasing "Murder in Peking" by Paul French. Another real murder mystery; set in 1937. British Consul's daughter's body found.
Hmmmm .... I think I see a pattern.

So not into real stories.
In the Lake of the Woods was made into a TV movie in 1996 starring Peter Strauss and Kathleen Quinlan. I only watched it because Steve Bacic is in the credits. He showed up for a few seconds. Totally lame.

Maybe something is shifting in my aging process because I have become more fascinated by the true stories of what happens to people and what they do to each other than I am by any fictional tale lately.

I've had enough of true stories. Heard too many rum things in the news that happened here and afar. Saw too many true story shows on TV that make me think the human race needs to be annihilated.
Ignorance is bliss for me when it's man's evil against man.

That's exactly why I limit my news watching, J. Unbalanced reporting and depressing stories in an already poorly behaved world. My reading choices are more often than not historical as it's not always linked to current events.

It was meant to be a family Bush Dance night but we were too cool for that.
