| I read that this is the minimal amount of room a parakeet should have. Sheesh, for his size it's about as much room as I have to move. Then again, I can leave the house if I want to.
Beaker had a much smaller cage, but given I didn't have the cats at the time and he was let out daily, I felt bad this poor little guy had so little room to move.
I think my pets have it better than I do. | |

| Nice cage. At least bird cages can go vertical. I looked at getting a guinea pig and minimum cage space. They need about 6 feet x 2 feet floor space to run in. I don't have that. So no guinea pig. | |

| I used to have a guinea pig, his name was Taco. His cage wasn't quite that big, but then again I let him out in the back yard quite a bit. He would eat grass until he got so full he couldn't move. Tweetheart is still throwing food. Spoiled rotten bird. LOL! Julie, you should get a guinea pig. If you have no other pets, you could let it out in your back yard. That's what I used to do with mine.  | |

| We have storage shed in the back that are under a foot off the ground, and deckings. I'm not interested in fishing a cavy out from under those places. We also have copperheads and coral snakes and neighborhood cats. I've spent many days in my youth hunting for escaped hamsters in the house. Cavies are bigger, but still a pain. Plus cage cleaning has never been my thing. My mom was easily talked intot he dirty work. I'm not.
Right now I have a human pet. After it goes to college I'll seriously think about 4-legged pets again. | |
