DK, that really sucks. I hate all the hidden charges they don't tell you about but hide in fine prints in places you'd never look. Banks and credit cards do that, too.

Just had a new a/c installed. Took them all day because the little closet where the old heater/blower was was about an inch too small. They had to take off the door and trim, and cut away stuff to make room. It's working now and it's cold. Whee! They'll come back tomorrow (they better!) to put the door and trim back. Fricking $9K, with about $1.5K rebate. Blah

I'm really glad I didn't go to Gatecon now.

Ouch. Sorry to hear about your Blackberry costs, Donna. My BIL told me once that accessing the internet was damned expensive from your mobile phone. The Ranting Thread - Page 26 153365

I would like to rant. Yes, I realise I don't do it very often but still, here I go. My apologies if I offend anyone from the Pantry.

Leggings.

Women of the world! Hear ye, hear ye! These are NOT pants. They are not substitutes for trousers OR a coverup for varicose veins/cellulite OR a way to look young and hip.

They are basically just long undies.

Why would anyone want to wear long bloomers under short shirts or mini-dresses? Are they convenient? Yes. Are they wash/wear? Yes.

Are they UGLY? YES!

Nay, obviously you haven't seen pics of me in the 80s wearing leggings. I was young AND hip!!!

BTW, my neice was visiting this week. We went on a shopping mission. All the clothing she was looking at reminded me of the stuff I used to wear in the 80s. It was shocking - and expensive. If only I had kept that stuff, she could have been stylish and had some vintage pieces!

We did like the same shoes and purses, though. And my sis, niece and I all bought ourselves new purses from the Coach store (I bought two!) so at least I had something to show for two days of sore feet and shopping fatigue....

The 80s are a fashion decade best forgotten, oh "I'm younger than you!" one.

Did you wear hoop earrings, slouch socks, big hair bows, stonewashed jeans, legwarmers, coloured stockings, off the shoulder shirts with 3/4 sleeves, vivid makeup with blue eyeshadow and glitter lips, beauty moles with your multi-coloured, crimped, ultra-teased, permed fro?

I like slouch socks. I wore legwarmers when it was cold inside. I had a French poodle hairdo. I miss my French poodle hairdo. Mostly because I miss my hair that have left me. Come back!

And the big thing this year is that everything has to have embellishments!!!! Why have they brought back the sparkles and the beads on everything. Granted, in the 80's I wore leggings, had the blunt haircut with the poof bangs, and the big poofy sleeved Lady Di dresses (and you can't go wrong with a cute tunic, even today), but that was the past and I just had hoped it would stay there. Again, where's the imagination in clothes designers?

Sometimes, yes, yes, no, yes, can't remember, no, no, no, no.

I think I've worn jeans about three times in my life-once camping, once in my senior year in high school, and when I dated some wanna-be hick. I have more 'hick' in my blood than he does and I still didn't want to act like one.

I did take jazz dance in high school so leggings and stuff were part of the typical attire, although I never did 'off the shoulder'. I preferred leggings with boot straps, what were they called?

I'm trying to remember if I have any leggings. I know I bought a pair when I went to L.A. with Bea when we waited outside at one of Gman's premieres, but that was because it was freakingly cold for L.A. at the time, and it was worn under pants.

If I remember, I wore leggings mainly under skirts when it was a tad chilly. I'm too short to wear leggings for anything other than exercise or under clothing. They don't look right otherwise.

I love my poodle hair. I want it back but can't unless I get weaves or wigs. I had thick elbow length hair with spiral perm. It was great!

I took out all the shoulder pads and threw them in random directions. I've moved a few times since the shoulder pad days and I still occasionally find stray shoulder pads.

It will pass faster than you think. My roommate broke her wrist and about 6 weeks she was better. But she's an elderly woman, so it took longer than usual.

Get better Samantha! I broke my right wrist once. It was a pain, considering I drove a manual transmission.

I tripped on the sidewalk and fell, landed on my hand first and broke it.

My car has a manual transmission too. I haven't tried driving yet, but will this week. We'll see how it goes.

This heat is ridiculous. We have yet another week of heat warnings, with heat indices ranging from 104-114 all week. I just got home from work, and it's 90F in my house WITH the A/C running. Thank God for my portable unit in the bedroom, or it would be unbearable in here.

You leave the a/c on during the day when you're not home, right? Like 80-85? And you got kitties!

The heat this year killed my old a/c. Today our predicted high was 97, it's 6pm now at 96 with heat index of 104. Predicted high Wednesday is 99. #%$@! I'm so happy I got a new a/c (still gonna grump about the price for a long time).

I have to leave it on, Julie...especially with the kitties! I keep it on 78 right now but it isn't doing much good. A friend is supposed to come look at it when he gets back from vacation, including checking the ductwork under the house. I've been saying for a while I think there's a problem with the ducts.
