Mom got a new cell phone and called me. She's bruised all over and has black eyes, but seems in good spirits. I told her she needs to go see doctors tomorrow.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and support.

Eye doctor pronounced her eyes okay. She'll have black eyes for quite a few weeks. She's sore all over, but she's back at work. Her sense of humor is back. I'll keep checking on her and do what she needs me to do.

I hope everyone here is okay. I haven't paid much attention to anyone else the last couple of days.

All the medical-y people I know avoid doctors and hospitals. She's a dentist so she's one of them.

I received an $833 cellphone bill in the mail this morning.

So much for unlimited text, email, internet, minutes, etc.

$745 in data roaming charges.

It was apparently because my Blackberry is set up to automatically connect to the wireless network or whatever they call it in order to send and receive emails, browse the web, etc.

I hardly use my BB to browse the web, but I guess that doesn't matter? Besides, I also have social networking, GPS, etc. aps that sometimes run in the background. These must have been going constantly, plus I was using my Twitter ap from time to time while there. But since it might have been running in the background, it racked up all of these data roaming charges. Sad

They knocked off $257 from the bill and said they'd work with me because I told them I didn't have that kind of money, so I guess I'll be on a payment plan until it all gets squared away.

I'm still sick.

That stinks that you weren't informed of that. Is there any way they can take out some of that stuff in the background and just charge you when you actually use it?

Gosh, I'd be sick too, my dear. I hate unexpected charges. Sometimes, it's just easier to use the daily wifi at a hotel than to deal with your own wifi or phone.

No wonder you're sick. I'm floored that they charged you that much for what---a three day weekend? Have you checked your contract? I thought most unlimited-everything phone plans covered Canada and Mexico.

They said the next time I go out of the country to call them and they would instruct me how to turn off the stuff that would get charges, but I'm afraid it's too late. I'll never be able to afford to go anywhere again.

Yes you will. It shouldn't take very long to pay it off. Consider it say---a new couch or car repair. You do what you must to get it fixed---and move on with your life.

I do wonder how much money they make every day by not telling subscribers about these charges?
