Yes, I think Bonnie's show was one of the best interviews, aside from Craig's interviews.

It's too early in the week to be this tired. My weekends need to slow down and become quieter.
Does anyone think it's too late at my age to learn to surf? It's been on my mind lately and an opportunity has come along.

Nay, you live on the coast and don't know how to surf? Man, that's like living in Texas and not knowing how to shoot a gun.....
I say go for it, and I pray that someone has a Flip and captures it all for my amusement.
Oh, just think!!! Cute young surfers as instructors. WAIT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many items from Dallas' last post to deal with ...
1. I have only lived here for 18 months so having non-surf genes can be put down to a place of birth affliction.
2. Baby steps may need to occur first. I must confess that I cannot actually swim. Maybe swimming lessons should happen first. Luckily, I know an Olympic swimming medallist.
3. There will be NO cameras, still or video, hidden or blatant, to capture any evidence of costume-riding-up issues or board spills or sandy butts etc. Anyone found on the premises or at great distance (via satellite) will be stricken from my home/travel photos list. So there!
4. As to any possible cute instructors ... you snooze, you lose.

You want to surf but you can't swim? *dumbfounded*
Learn to swim NOW!
Yes, you should learn to surf after you learn to swim. Falling in the water isn't as devastating as learning to snowski or snowboard and falling on snow, ice, trees, or rocks.

I can't swim, either. Then again, I live in MO so I have no plans to surf.

Nay, you can't swim and you HAD A POOL IN YOUR BACKYARD? I assume the pool wasn't deep, or you wore water wings???
WTH is going on in your upside down world?????!!!! (....aside from you being upside down in the southern hemisphere?)
Okay, It is settled. I'm going to come to Aussieland and not only teach you to swim, but will have teach you to scuba dive. We will dive the Great Barrier Reef -- there WILL be pictures, and you WILL wear a bikini. Then I will teach you to shoot the wings off a fly (like that film reference?), ride horseback, and dirty words in French. Then we will go shoe shopping and out flirting and dancing with men that evening.
I'm not sure what we will do on Day Two........

No need for water wings, mon ami. Pools are for cooling down which I did with regularity. They are not, in my eyes, for more strenuous exercise such as swmming. Yes, I live down under. We'll discuss the whole gun shooting and bikini issues another time.
BTW I did scuba once and have snorkelled several times, including in the Yucatan. However, I must confess that the scubaing was in a pool and I rolled over to look up at the sky and ... clunk ... down went the air tank. So in reality, I may have failed that lesson.
Day Two will unfold much like this: Early rise (5am) and brisk walk or bike ride. Volunteer to babysit nephew and nieces. Sushi for lunch (sashimi if you are a good girl) Wallets/purses/cedit cards will not be used all day. Gardening all afternoon - slave labour. Curry for dinner. Ok avec tu?

Apparently cops in Dallas like to ticket people for being non-English speaking drivers.

I don't know why, but they do, and it's not even illegal to drive if you don't speak English.

Sounds very strange then if it is not illegal. Do the Police have quotas to meet?

Nay, the Dallas police thing is funny. There is a law about commercial drivers needing to speak English. Some of the cops got confused. Anyway, it's still funny.
Sharks usually leave people alone. Why would you swim in deep water?

We've had a few dead whales this Spring around along the eastern coastline and that has been attracting the large sharks.
Deep water for me is anything over my knees. Sharks can come in remarkably close when they are hunting for food.

Tonight I am off to an end of year 'Cultural' evening.
My class is performing. Wearing black and white with bow ties. They are both nervous and excited. That, combined with their first swimming lesson of the season, means I will need a wine when I arrive home.
