I went to bed last night and didn't log off, so it looks like I was on the forum all of this time. It's a good thing I stayed hidden, otherwise you all might think I have no life or something.
I slept in, and am having major problems with my stomach today but I really need to mow the grass. So I guess I'll gird up my loins and get to cracking.

Just got back. It was a gorgeous day, so I decided to take the car out and go shopping. Got three shirts...on sale. Put one of them back, or I would have had four. The guy who checked me out gave me 15% off my purchase. He was nice. I spent under $60 for three shirts.
Now I just have to find somewhere to wear them.

Good bargain shopping, Donna. I am the "Queen of Never Paying Full Price".
Glorious sunny day here. Fabulous time to go for a ride!!?? Hint ...
Unfortunately most of it for me will be spent on my laptop with end-of-semester work stuff.

How does one gird up one's loins? Does that mean you wear a girdle?

A good friend of mine attended her eldest daughter's Prom last week. I suggested ever so politely (and gently) that she may consider a pair of suck-em-in pants under her long clingy skirt and assured she would feel spectacular. She did!
But there's no way in hell I would have said the word "girdle".

Those suck em in things just give me muffin top...and a constant urge to pee.
I don't need help down there...it's further up that gets in my way.

What's wrong with the word girdle?
They do make body shaping suits. You won't find me anywhere near them because I prefer to breathe.

Spanx, I believe they're called. A lot of the Hollywood people supposedly wear them when they go on the red carpet. A lot of 'normal' women wear them too when they go formal, because it supposedly sucks everything in. I guess I'm not normal, because I like to breathe as well. Stuff like that gets hot, and when you already have curves, they just make you...well, lumpy. I'd rather be curvy than lumpy.
I've been told that William Shatner wore a 'girdle' when he was on Star Trek because he got a pudgy middle.

I got cleaned up and was going to ride my bike, but now I'm all dolled up and don't want to get sweaty. Decisions, decisions....
Maybe I'll wait until later, when I'm feeling less "cleaned up". I was going to go to the store for some pickles, but I'm not sure I feel like it now.
Yes, pickles. Those big honkin' huge ones. Wal Mart has the biggest jar of pickles I have ever seen, and they have those big huge pickles in them. I like big pickles.

It was really hot yesterday, and today is supposed to have a high of 87F, but by tomorrow the high is only supposed to be 66F. Any time there's a drop in temperature like that, it means some major league thunderstorms are moving in.
I welcome the cooler temperatures, though. It's a shame when it's so beautiful outside but you still have to keep your shades drawn and doors closed due to the heat and humidity.
I guess being out of work this long is starting to get to me. It's like I've lost my purpose in life, and I feel like a bum. I go out and try to keep active, I'm doing projects around the house, focusing on stuff to keep me occupied, etc....but I need a paying job! One of my recruiters called last night to ask how things were going, and I told her I was still looking. She said she'd keep me in mind and would try to put a bug in the ear of my former employer (not the one who layed me off, but the one before that) to see if they wanted to hire me back.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same, but there are other factors I'm dealing with. There are things I want to work on, but there are bigger things I have to deal with, and I'm just not feeling into it right now. I don't want to deal with it.
I've also been getting hives or welts on and off since we've moved. I don't know if it's something I've eaten or the stress I'm feeling. I'm always itching my arms or legs.

Long-term unemployment has many distressing and demoralizing side-effects, Donna and Alice. You are doing the right thing by keeping active - mentally and physically - but don't forget to make sure you are socially connecting with other people too.
Wave to strangers, ring a long-forgotten friend, volunteer at a hospital, etc. Pushing yourself outside your comfort zone in times like this can really improve self-esteem and self-worth. You are two intelligent, funny, insightful and caring women. Don't let the business world and all its woes make you feel otherwise.
