Gerard Butler Reteams With Millennium Films For Threequel ‘Angel Has Fallen’

EXCLUSIVE: Millennium Films is teaming up with Gerard Butler again, this time for Angel Has Fallen, a threequel follow-up to hit action titles Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen.

Butler will be back to star as Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who has spent his career keeping American presidents safe. This time, he’s the target. If his attackers can take down half of Washington, D.C. with it, all the better. Among those at risk is the President, whose official plane Air Force One is code-named Angel.

Producers are Butler, Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, John Thompson and Matt O’Toole. Exec producers are Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Christine Otal and Heidi Jo Markel. Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, who created the franchise, will write the script. No director has been set.

Millennium will be launching the title to distributors at the American Film Market in Santa Monica next week, and it’s sure to be one of the hottest titles up for grabs given the box office success of the first two installments: Olympus Has Fallen took $161M at the worldwide box office i 2013 while London Has Fallen generated a whopping $205M worldwide this year.

Millennium is targeting a production start in the first half of 2017.

The company also will be shopping Unchained, a Reservoir Dogs-style thriller from writer-director Paul Solet that stars Adrian Brody, John Malkovich and Antonio Banderas.

Butler is repped by CAA.

Gerard Butler to Star in ‘Angel Has Fallen’ Threequel

Gerard Butler will star again as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in “Angel Has Fallen,” the third film in the “Fallen” franchise comprised of “Olympus Has Fallen” and “London Has Fallen.”

Millennium Films is launching sales next week at the American Film Market and is planning to begin production in the first half of 2017. No director has been set. Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt are writing the script.

“Olympus Has Fallen,” directed by Antoine Fuqua, generated $160 million at the worldwide box office in 2013. This year’s “London Has Fallen” grossed more than $195 million globally.

“Angel” will focus on attackers trying to take down Banning’s character. Producers are Butler, Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, John Thompson, and Matt O’Toole. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Christine Otal and Heidi Jo Markel will exec produce.

“London Has Fallen” was directed by Babak Najafi and written by Rothenberger, Benedikt, Chad St. John, and Christian Gudegast. Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Alon Moni Aboutboul, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Jackie Earle Haley, and Melissa Leo also starred.

Butler will appear next in the upcoming sci-fi thriller “Geostorm” and is repped by CAA. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

Gerard Butler Will Save The Day Again In ‘Angel Has Fallen’

With John McClane currently sitting on the sidelines, the world’s everyman hero has turned out to be Gerard Butler‘s Mike Banning. While this year has shown audiences becoming increasingly wary of sequels, Millennium Films has looked at the numbers for “Olympus Has Fallen” ($161 million worldwide) and “London Has Fallen” ($195 million worldwide) and figured they can confidently make another entry in the franchise that has now become a trilogy.

Butler will once again kick some butt in the rather dramatically titled, “Angel Has Fallen.” Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt are writing the script for the movie that will see Banning himself become the target, but of course, the President’s life will also be in danger, with the title referring to Air Force One. So, is this just basically “Air Force One” but with Harrison Ford‘s character in a supporting role? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

There’s no director attached just yet — Antoine Fuqua and Babak Najafi helmed the first two pictures — but the film will be ready for buyers to snap up at the American Film Market next month, which I presume it’ll sell quite handily given the success of ‘Olympus’ and ‘London.’ Filming will get underway next year. Newswire: Gerard Butler to stab air travel in the brain in Angel Has Fallen

tvseries | October 26, 2016 | Movie | No Comments

Apparently President Benjamin Asher, Aaron Eckhart’s tough-guy Commander in Chief in the —Has Fallen series of films, thinks term limits are for pussies. Deadline reports that he and his best bro/bodyguard, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) will return for a third round of stabbing terrorists in the brain in Angel Has Fallen.

But why, out of all the glittering landmarks in the world —the Eiffel Tower in France, the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas, the Great Pyramids of Giza, that other pyramid in Vegas—did writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt pick one that makes this sound like a Christian take on the material? Because that’s the code name for Air Force One, as it turns out, a code name the real Secret Service will probably change now that this movie has been announced.

According to Deadline, whereas in the previous films Banning was tasked …
