Gerard Butler: Kids would be nice
Gerard Butler wishes he'd had kids by now.
The 44-year-old actor is busy in his Hollywood career, making films such as Olympus Has Fallen and its upcoming sequel, London Has Fallen. While he might be doing well professionally, the star sometimes wishes he'd chosen a different path.
"I'd probably be living in a nice house just outside of the city and drive a Mercedes," he mused to the German edition of Glamour magazine when asked where he would be now if he'd stayed in his previous law job. "Also, I'd be married and have kids, which would be better.
"Now would be a nice time to become homely. One of the reasons I'm single is probably my job. It provides me with lots of adventure, fun and independence. But the thought of having kids to raise is also very nice."
After graduating from law school in Scotland, Gerard won a position as a trainee at an Edinburgh firm. However, things didn't quite go to plan at the company.
"I was sacked," he admitted. "I didn't do a good job and partied too much. My bosses knew I wanted to be an actor. So they said to me, 'Why don't you do what you really want to do''"
The star has previously admitted he got into acting for the wrong reasons; namely wanting to be famous. However, his celebrity status came with downsides he only now knows about.
"The paparazzi," he sighed when asked the toughest lesson he's had to learn in Hollywood. "They restrict you quite a lot; you can't move freely any more. They follow your car, they loiter in the restaurant and harass you. The other guests feel inconvenienced and you feel it's your fault."
