Thanks Sami and Kayanne! Thank God my house was spared, but the devastation is something else. Since it happened at night and because they couldn't put the helicopters up, no one really knew the extent of the damage until this morning. Now the news stations are going up in the copters and filming footage. Hopefully I can get some of that for you later to show you just how bad this storm and tornado...or possibly tornadoeS...were.

The most amazing thing about this whole thing is that there are NO serious injuries or deaths reported so far. This was one heck of a storm.

Now the big concern is major flooding. We're supposed to get more rain the next 5 days or so, and the ground is already beyond saturation.


Here are some pictures of Lambert International Airport. 50% of the windows have been blown out and the airport is closed until further notice. The tornado actually moved planes on the tarmac, including a 757.

LOL, I know! I was supposed to go visit my family this weekend, but I think I'm going to postpone my trip for a couple of weeks. If the roads going down there are flooded, it might not be safe to venture off.

With everything that happened last night, it was kind of hard to sleep. I knew once daylight hit they'd have better coverage and I wanted to see just how bad things were.

The world has gone mad...mad I say!

I'm fine, but we have flood warnings now. Thank God I don't live in a flood plain. It has been raining more days than it has not been raining. More strong storm are expected through Thursday.

The tornado that hit went a distance of 22 miles before going into Illinois. It started in my area (I live west of St Louis) and was classified as an F2, by the time it reached the airport and that subdivision, it was an F4.

Lambert Airport is miraculously up and running this morning. Not a full capacity mind you, but still...that's amazing.

I, too, have been very concerned about you, Donna. Everytime it comes on the news, I keep wondering how you are doing. It sounds like you did the right thing, by staying home. Please stay safe. How did the kittys do? And did your family do ok?

Thanks for the concern! The major concern right now is flooding, mostly in the more southern portions. They've evacuated about 500 homes in Poplar Bluff, MO. My parents and one brother live about 100 miles south of me, not quite as far as Poplar Bluff. We've had rain on and off non-stop, and more storms are scheduled through tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday.

OMG! i feel so badly for all those poor people that lost their homes! how heartbreaking!

It is, Sami. I've been in tears listening to some of the stories. But the communities have been banding together and helping one another, which is really touching to see.

I hope everyone else is okay. Given what my area has been through, it's easy to forget other areas might be experiencing the same thing. The weather has been crazy....I hope everyone else is okay.

Those pictures really told the story, DK and the sad thing is that is only a small part of the devastation. I also heard that it only took 30 seconds. Why, that's barely enough time to get to a safe place.

I also hope everyone else is doing ok and staying safe. There's so much going on with the tornadoes, the rains and the wild fires, etc.

There were tornado warnings, and at least one tornado, north of me last night. Where's Dallas?
