| As you know, my buddies love movies too and my interest in Gerard Butler has become their interest, too. I had lunch with a friend today who watched Rock-N-Rolla recently (apparently it's on a movie channel I don't have). He loved the movie and thought Gerard was very good in it. He would like to see Gerard do more movies like that.
As we talked about Gerard's movie choices, he posed a question to me I thought I would share here: "What kind of movie would you like to see him do?" I know everyone is pulling for "Burns" and Gerard has some good project lined up. And I hope that "A Star is Born" is never remade--with or without Gerard. But what else?
My answer: I would like to see him do a role like Anthony Hopkins' in "Shadowlands. " I went through every emotion of resistance, surrender, love and loss with Sir Anthony. A close second is Hopkins' role in "The Human Stain." Can he pull something like this off? I would like to think he can.
Okay, outside of Burns and his other upcoming roles, anything you would like to see Gerard do?

| I would like a smart comedy. Gman's funny, but to me, most romcoms are lazy attempts at finding the laughter in every day life.
I was just thinking about "One More Kiss" and how controversial it is among Gman fans, so I'd like to see something more like that, but a more complete story, or more intelligent questions.

| Mr Butler .... I'm leaning more to the independent type of films for him, genre is irrelevant. Yes, they tend to be low budget and interesting only to a smaller audience base but a sense of integrity and authenticity with the story-telling is always evident because that is the focus instead of special effects etc. It might also garner him some more long-term respect from his peers. "Look at the range on the Butler bloke. Let's get him."
Big blockbuster style movies are like a greasy take-away meal. Good in the initial impact, nauseating when compared to other genres and ultimately unsatisfying. Whilst GB hasn't always moved towards the big ones, I'll bet that it has been one of his (and so many others') career goals.
If I can offer a name as a example of this indie respect, it would be Ryan Gosling, Maggie Gyll, Daniel Day Lewis, Gary Sinise, Laura Linney, Peter Sarsgaard, Philip Seymour Hoffman.

| Nay, you mentioned some of the actors I love based on their performance. And they are in many of my favorite movies:
Laura Linney--The Squid and the Whale Ryan Gosling--Lars and the Real Girl (and of course The Notebook since I am a sappy romantic) Phillip Seymour Hoffman--Capote
Watched "Crazy Heart" with Maggie Gyll. I know she was in it but I couldn't take my eyes off Jeff Bridges. That's a career-making role!
I do think Gerard could do a good comedy because he seems very funny in his interviews. But good comedy scripts are hard to come by it seems.

| When I think about Gerry's acting skills I think about historical, epic, war and love, or something like Wuthering Heights. He has an imposing, striking and powerful appearance. He's extremely masculine but has a dangerous aura about him, sexual and sensual yet romantic. Gerry's funny but he's not a comedic actor like Mike Meyers or Jim Carrey. He needs something where he can use that accent, wear period clothing, overact, and then lie sprawled naked in a huge canopy bed of tusseled white linens, eating greasy chicken, with only the glow of a roaring fire............sorry, got of on the wrong track for a moment! Or how about a remake of "Somewhere In Time"? On the humorous side, "Some Like It Hot" would be a scream! He and Dwayne Johnson should pair up for that one! Ger | |

Why don't they make more Westerns nowadays? Probably because they can't blame everything on the Indians anymore. Ger

| Westerns have evolved into scifi, ever since the original Star Trek days. We Earthlings are the Cowboys, and the aliens are the Indians. | |

Did you see "Avatar"? It was the reverse and I saw so much of the Native American reference in that movie. I'm about quarter Cherokee and I noticed it right off. There was the reference made when an animal was killed, a prayer of apology or thanks was said over it's body. I thought then the message that James Cameron was making was profound. This is definately of Native American lore. They believed that killing was only done out of necessity, food, clothing or danger. It's said that whenever a buffalo was killed, the warrior said a prayer to set it's spirit free and to thank it for providing life for his people. - andrea wrote:

Gerry is an alien. He has tractor beams coming out of his eyes that mesmerize women and make them follow him around and do stupid, foolish things! - kayanne wrote:

Ger--do you love "Somewhere in Time?" That movie is very, very special to me. One of my favorite movies of all time! Loved Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour! It was one of those "sleeper" movies that went under the radar and my husband turned me on to it. He cried like a little girl at the end. The sound track is beautiful and Rachmaninov's "Rhapsody on A Theme from Paganini" is my all time favorite classical piece. Gets me every time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD2pS1O-21Um - Ger

| One of my favorites too! A few years ago I was in a short but intense long distance relationship and the guy I was seeing said, "We are like that movie, 'Somewhere in Time.' I had never seen it but when I watched it I cried too. I immediately bought the soundtrack and the movie.
I watch it whenever I feel like my emotions are numb and I just need to FEEL something. I don't know if I would like to see remake because I love that movie so much.

No. It's not on my TV yet. After everything I've read and heard, I will watch it once, and probably only once.

| Only saw less than a minute of Titanic. Saw de Caprio (can't stand him) in some sappy scene and changed the channel. I like Aliens and The Abyss (Micheal Biehn!). Really looking forward to HtTYD and Up and District 9.
I don't care what kind of movie GB makes; the more the merrier since he's entertaining in the ones I've seen. I'd like to see less public grossness.

| I think Leo has always had a crush on Kate.
Saw District 9 and I didn't care for it. Disturbing.

| I saw District 9 and thought it was actually a perfect metaphor for refugees and our future as a global society.
And that imagery terrified me.

| Avatar has a similar social message as well and was much more entertaining and pleasant to watch for me. I'm not a Pollyanna but I'd rather watch big blue people then ugly, scraggly faced, cat food eating ones.

| This is a little off topic but I see where "Mildred Pierce" is being remade starring Kate Winslet. That should be interesting and I love her!

| Girl, my mind is in the gutter so much the gutter rats know me by name!
But I have to be honest. I think Gerard is good looking but I haven't had him in my gutter dreams in a while. I tend to randomly select my gutter fantasies from the people in my twisted little world I see regularly.
Gerard is just not doing it for me as a man anymore and it's not because of his looks. But I think he has talent. I am looking forward to his upcoming movies and I can't wait to see what he will do next.
