Priyanka-Shahid's romance is over

Even before they could officially announce that they were a couple, buzz is that Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur have calledit quits. News about their relationship having come to an end has been doing the rounds for a couple of weeks now. On April 15, Mumbai Mirror had first broken the news that all’s not well between the two. Priyanka was fed up of Shahid’s constant interference and he expected her to play the conservative girl, which didn’t go down well with the actress. A senior and very sexy actress informs us that the relationship is finally off. “When I heard Priyanka and Shahid have called off their relationship, my reaction was one of incredulity. I didn’t even know they were a couple,” she said.

According to sources, Priyanka, who has been linked with the Hollywood hunk Gerard Butler at the same time as her relationship with Shahid began to gather momentum, tried very hard to make her relationship with Shahid work. A source said, “Priyanka is a faithful and very romantic girl. As long as she was with Harman Baweja, there wasn’t even a whiff of her having a fling with anyone else. But then she simply outgrew Harman. She only tried to make the relationship work for old time’s sake.The relationship with Shahid started when during the shoot of their film Kaminey, Shahid saved her face from being injured when they both slipped and fell from a scooter. Shahid had reflexively extended his hand and buffered her fall.

According to the actress’ friends, it was like a Mills & Boon romance for Priyanka. Soon the two neighbours, who live in the same building, became close friends. Their friendship turned to love only a few months ago. But Priyanka’s friends say she wasn’t happy with Shahid. “She was always restless, tense and uncharacteristically hyper. Maybe because she was being constantly questioned about her other friendships, especially the one with Gerard Butler, who she insisted was just a friend.Shahid, however, didn’t see it that way,” said the source. After several attempts to make the relationship work, Priyanka decided to call it quits. Shahid and Priyanka were just not meant to be. They’re completely different individuals.

And the change in Priyanka’s recent behaviour proved it. She has now chosen to concentrate on her career. As for Gerard Butler, that was more hype than hope created by her publicity machinery. Priyanka is now single,” said the source.

Priyanka, Harman not on talking terms

Curtains have been drawn on the Priyanka Chopra-Harman Baweja chapter. The two young actors who were dating till a while ago, are not even on talking terms now.

According to a source close to both actors, “Harman and Priyanka have two songs to complete for Ashutosh Gowarikar’s What’s Your Rashee scheduled for an August-September 2009 release; and once those songs are canned, the couple will go their separate ways professionally too. News from the What’s Your Rashee set is that neither of the actors were comfortable doing the romantic scenes after their split.

All Harman will say to this is, “We’re professionals, we’re both actors and everything that is being said about our relationship on the sets is exaggerated.” The actor however admits that he and his ex-girlfriend don’t talk.

There’s also buzz that when PC threw a party for the British actor Gerard Butler, she had wanted the whole party issue to remain a big secret. But it was not to be that way. One of the actress’ close aides even suggested that the news leaked out from the Harman camp.

However, Harman who maintains a dignified silence on his split with Priyanka says, “Listen, as you’ve heard from your sources — the two of us don’t talk. If we don’t talk, then how on earth could I know whether Priyanka is throwing a party or not. Surely she wouldn’t discuss her guest list with me.”

Harman must be given the benefit of the doubt, shouldn’t he? After all, one hears he still holds a torch for PC, with whom he shared a very precious relationship; and though she has clearly moved on in life, the young actor is yet to get over that chapter of his life completely.
