| I'm tickled that Fass (nickname for Michael) would even be considered for a nomination...I hope to hear more and more like this. This is a great article because it comes from LA. in a major newspaper.

Although the supporting actor Oscar is usually considered the lifetime achievement award, this year's roster of best actor possibilities has several contenders eligible for AARP membership. The average age of the 22 men profiled here is 48, with Clint Eastwood ("Gran Torino") the oldest at 78. Indeed, only Leonardo DiCaprio ("Revolutionary Road") and Michael Fassbender ("Hunger") will still be under the age of 40 come Oscar night.
Michael Fassbender, 'Hunger' As Bobby Sands, an IRA member who starved himself to death in a British prison in 1981, Fassbender, 31, is at the center of controversial "Hunger," from first-time director Steve McQueen. Four of the last six best actor winners played real-life men, and all but three of the last 20 races have had at least one such nominee.
Already a winner of prizes at both the Cannes and Toronto film fests, this small movie could have a big effect in Hollywood with its raw depiction of political protest. And Fassbender radically transforms himself physically, as did nominee Tom Hanks ("Castaway") and winner Robert De Niro ("Raging Bull").

One Week Only! Starts Friday, December 5 at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles Actor Michael Fassbender In Person Friday, December 5 at 7:30 & 10:00pm!
Hunger follows life in the Maze Prison, Northern Ireland, with an interpretation of the highly emotive events surrounding the 1981 IRA (Irish Republican Army) Hunger Strike led by Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender). After riots erupt due to the treatment of 'non-conforming' republican prisoners, Sands reveals to Father Dominic Moran (Liam Cunningham) that he is going to lead a new Hunger Strike to protest their special category status. The conversation immediately intensifies into a battle of words, illuminating the prisoners' determination to begin another Hunger Strike despite the priest's questioning of their motives and morality. With an epic eye for detail, the drama provides a timely exploration of what happens when body and mind are pushed to the uttermost limit. Directed and co-written by acclaimed British artist Steve McQueen.

| See Donna's siggy? That is him. He's also in my siggy and my picture.
You did see 300, right? If not, get thee to a dvd and watch it!
He's the one who said, Then we will fight in the shade, and did a lot of other stuff in the movie--mainly stunts.
He was in Sky 1's show, Hex. He played Azazeal.
He's done a lot of British tv, and was in Band of Brothers. He's currently doing a movie with Brad Pitt in a Tarantino movie. He did a movie with Schumacher, that hasn't been released yet. Hoping next year. And his best work yet is the Indie movie, Hunger.
He did a little family movie called, A Bear named Winnie, which is the most adorable thing around.
Was that too much? Need more?

| I'm just yanking your chain, Alice. Actually, I wondered if DK or Leo would bite my head off!! I have seen 300 several times and read a glowing review about Hunger in an Australian paper but don't know the Hex show. I'm more intrigued by his personality, family, education etc. What thrills you all about him? | |

| Ah...wasn't sure if I should have answered. ah yeah, sure, Leo. I think in 300, he caught my eye, but watching his work in Hex... really clinched the interest, and then Winnie solidified my interest. It couldn't have been done by 300 alone. But it was enough to look for his work. It's how fans were taken away with Gerry in POTO. That's how I was taken by Hex, but even more blown away by Hunger. To me, he's an excellent actor. That's first and foremost. I'm amazed because I've yet to find a bad review of his performance. His work isn't for everyone, but critics agree that he's a great actor, even before he did Hunger. He's multi-talented, not just in acting; that's attractive to me. He's been compared to Brando, Daniel Day Lewis, Ralph Fiennes, and other great actors. He's been winning awards for best actor in various festivals. I also like that he's just coming up in the biz, so he hasn't been tainted. All the newness is fascinating. To many fans, there are a lot of similar attributes that Michael and Gerry share. And it doesn't hurt that I do find him attractive all around. To me, his voice is smoldering. | |
