Gerard Butler's ex Morgan Brown set the Hollywood heartthrob free

Gerard Butler plays an action hero on the big screen, but it’s his ex-girlfriend Morgan Brown who may have dodged a bullet when she took a break from the notorious ladies’ man last month.
Sources close to Brown tell us that after more than a year of dating, she suggested to the 46-year-old Scottish star in early February that they hit the pause button while he completes his promotional tours for “London Has Fallen” and “Gods of Egypt.”
And boy, is she glad she did.
“Not even two months ago, they had a little talk,” says our source. “He seemed restless as he got ready to launch the tours and she didn’t want to put her kids through that. You know how these things happen where the girlfriend stays home and the movie star boyfriend has every girl on the red carpet throwing themselves at him.”
According to our insider, Brown, a 39-year old California interior designer, is all too familiar with the movie star lifestyle. Her mother Karen, a model in the 1980s, was a longtime lover of playboy actor Peter O’Toole, who, like Butler, enjoyed a good party.
“She didn’t want that,” we’re told. “She was prescient in looking ahead and thinking two movie tours, the after-parties — they had a little talk and he grabbed his mountain bike, packed his stuff and left.”
Brown’s friends have assured her that she made the right call.
“Look what happened,” we’re told. “Suddenly he’s being photographed in hotels and casinos with all these different women — and it started just a few weeks later!”
Butler was spotted getting friendly with model Charlotte McKinney at the Daytona 500 in late February and taking flirty selfies with Las Vegas party girls just last weekend.
Our insider says rumors that Butler got “cold feet” and ended the relationship are Hollywood spin.
“She was hearing buzz that his camp wanted him to seem single for the press tours,” we’re told. “They wanted him to be ‘the sexiest bachelor alive’ in the magazines. They think he’d make a great James Bond.”
We’re also told that friends of Brown and Butler aren’t certain that the relationship is over.
“They’re thinking that he’ll get the films opened and decide he’s better off being in a relationship than being wild man Gerard and going back to his old ways,” we’re told.
Either way, our source says Brown and Butler will both be fine.
“What people don’t realize is that Morgan isn’t some bimbo in a bikini that Gerard picked up and moved into his big house,” we’re told. “She had money. He stayed in her house.”
Butler's reps at ID-PR declined to comment.
