From Fire Juniors to the Big Screen

A lifelong Celtic F.C. supporter, Scottish actor Gerard Butler added a little red to his kit collection this weekend, courtesy of a new Chicago Fire primary jersey from 10-year-old Chicago Fire Juniors player Maxwell Jenkins.

Butler has gained notoriety through his roles in movies including "300", "The Phantom of the Opera" and "How To Train Your Dragon." He's also brought his love of soccer to the big screen, portraying U.S. soccer legend Frank Borghi in the 2005 film "The Game of Their Lives," the tale of the U.S. Soccer team's 1-0 upset of England at the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

In addition to his time on the pitch with Chicago Fire Juniors City, Jenkins is an acrobat, mandolin player, singer and actor. Recently cast in “The Headhunter’s Calling” with Butler, Jenkins and his fellow castmembers -- including Alison Brie, Gretchen Mol, Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina -- began filming the drama in Toronto in October.

Production moved to Chicago this past weekend, allowing Jenkins to snag a Fire jersey for Butler as he welcomed his colleagues to his hometown.

Though only 10, Jenkins has steadily added to his acting repertoire in recent years, appearing in TV shows Betrayal, Sens8 and NCIS: New Orleans and the upcoming film Conner4Real, produced by comedy juggernauts Judd Apatow and The Lonely Island.
