Gerard Butler is all smiles while stepping out for lunch on Friday (August 15) in Los Angeles.

The 44-year-old Scottish actor was spotted hugging Mel Gibson, who joined him for lunch. Perhaps the two guys are working on a future project together?

A few weeks ago, Gerard did some shopping with a friend at a surf shop in Malibu.

It was just reported that Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris, and Andy Garcia are all in talks to join Gerard’s upcoming film Geostorm, according to THR.

Gerard wasn't in a real talking mood ... but we're assuming it's cause he had somewhere to go ... that involved a chick!
