| Not sure what to think about this...other than it's complete rubbish. Braveheart? Are we sure Mel Gibson wasn't at that club too, or is she just too stupid to know the difference?? Paris Makes Brave Move - Quote :
- PARIS Hilton’s vow to stay single after splitting from Benji Madden last month is proving a hard promise to keep.
We’re not surprised to hear she’s been getting cosy with acting Scotburger Gerard Butler, 39. So cosy, in fact, she calls him Braveheart.
The pair went to elaborate lengths to avoid being pictured together at LA’s Bar Deluxe.
However, we’ve heard Paris, 27, is also receiving courtly advances from a hunky billboard model.
We admire her work. What work? What does she actually do, anyway? Would the model dude possibly be the dude that was with Gerry? Why are there no pictures? Because there were no photographers in the club in the first place!!! Then again, maybe Gerry is going to do a project with her too. And if that be the case.... That is NOT hot!

| lol...that was the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.
Wouldn't you think that G would want to rub shoulders with say...good actors to be taken seriously? Because I find it hard to take him seriously anymore if he's going to be hanging around the razzi's favorite people.

| It was about to post the same article. If he had a fling with his blond bimbo of no asshole, then something must be wrong with Gerry. Does Gerry want me to listen to his feelings or kiss his booboo? Gerry, she is not the one! :p | |

| You know, I take tabloid magazines with a grain of salt. So, I don't give this article much credence. But lately, Gerry is becoming a joke in the media. They seem to be targeting him and ridiculing him. And, quite frankly, some of it is because of the image that he puts out there. The fact that Gerry is now "linked" with Paris Hilton is just a mess. I hope he gets to work soon and gets out of the media circus for awhile. Becoming tabloid fodder will not help him gain credibility as a serious actor and I am afraid it will hurt him professionally if it continues.
Good luck to him. I hope he sees what is happening, starts to be more proactive with his image and that things look up for him in 2009.

| Firstly, thanks for the opportunity to comment on this topic. I wonder how many hits you will receive if others can\'t comment freely elsewhere.
Now, good points were raised by everyone but please bear in mind this is the type of paper that is hot spice for morning coffee and yet will line the bottom of the budgie cage by evening. What is more of a worry to me is the sheer number of occasions where his so-called private life has overtaken his professional life lately.
For someone who many believe keeps his private cards very close, GB has exposed 'himself' in some disturbing ways this year. For me, one of the first signs of this change was the premiere of Nim\'s Island when his nieces were presented to the public. A lot of people thought it terribly cute, a positive move on his part as a PR exercise, a clue he was ready to settle down, a link to his family and therefore his 'centre'. I was one who didn't agree at all but of course, I couldn't say that at the time.
Paris Hilton aside, strange little idiot that she is, GB is in a very precarious position here and I just hope he realises it.

Sadly, I wouldn't know as I'm not welcomed in most other G places. But it will be interesting to "see" what comes of it here. Should we do the wave again, DK? It always amazing to know that others can lurk on a site that they may never join...which is sad. It may be nice to have your site validated by G's people, but then you could be somewhat controlled by what his people will want to have on the site. It's a give and take.

| I've always had a hard time believing those gossip "rags", but, unfortunately, many people do. I'm afraid with all this "press" about him, he will no longer be taken seriously, as a person or as an actor, and will have to settle for mediocre roles and not be the actor he's always said he wants to be. I'd hate to see his talent be wasted, as an actor and the fact that he really is a good guy be changed by this "press", as it is called. I mean no dis-respect to Mr. B. I hope he can start acting again soon, as it seems that is what he likes. He once said something about how much he likes acting. It's all the other stuff that goes with it that's the hard part. All the best, Mr. B.

| Well said, A... *the wave....lol!* I'm not buying the rumor at all. Especially considering what went down at the MTV video awards in 2007. The night before she was going to serve her time, Paris showed up. G was asked his opinion on her and the jail thing....I remember him sort of scoffing and shaking his head. I don't remember what he said, unfortunatlely, but it wasn't a cheer for her team. LOL! Nah....he's smarter than that.

| I think the sheer number of times that he has been written about in an unkind light is what is disturbing, not the actual rags or blogs that do the writing. Even after 300, many people do not know who he is. Those people are now hearing more and more about him and what they are hearing is not good, even if untrue. Even some of his fans are affected and publically commenting on websites that they are no longer fans. It is just so bizarre to me that he is surrounded by people who are paid to take care of his career and image but this year he is increasingly getting bad press. Even the things that were once written about GB in a complementary way (like his sobriety) are now being twisted into morbid speculation. Every time he goes out and is photographed there is some story about how he was drunk, acting wierd, etc. It is just shocking to me.
DK, I appreciate the fact that we are allowed to discuss such topics. My comments are directed at the bizarre morphing of the media coverage this year of him and are in no way intended to be some sort of commentary on his personal life. I don't believe a lot of the crap out there. But I do believe that he and his people need to start considering how he is publically perceived and take steps to control what he puts out there. There will always be garbage that one can not control, but I do think one has the ablility not to contribute to it and/or give the press further ammunition. I will be so glad when he starts filming next month and hopefully gets a reprieve from this mess.
BTW: here's a link to an example of what I am talking about. It is becoming commonplace speculation. So sad. http://www.celebface.com/is-%E2%80%98recovering-alcoholic%E2%80%99-gerard-butler-back-on-the-sauce/

| I read that article as well, and I agree....something strikes me as 'fishy' with regards to his PR people. If they can't manage his "public" reputation better than this, they need to be sacked. If they're deliberately doing it to give him "publicity" to line their own pockets at his expense, then they need to be sacked. If they are indeed giving him good advice and he simply isn't listening to them, then he needs to think twice and take heed to them.
I don't pretend to know what's going on, other than the fact that I find it to be a disturbing trend. I'd hate to see someone with such potential to succeed to crash and burn because of crap like this.

| And while I'm on the subject, I find it equally disturbing that many fans who claim to "love" Gerry and have his best interest at heart, will in the same breath flatter him with flowery words that have no substance, while at the same time condemning those who have real genuine concerns for Gerry, and accusing them of 'hating' and 'bashing' him.
Truth isn't always pretty. Sometimes it stings you to the very core. But I'd rather have one person be real with me than one hundred people flatter my ego and tell me what I want to hear. Flattery is shallow, weak, and selfish. Many flatterers only say their words because they want to serve themselves by somehow proving to the masses that they 'love' this person - when the fact of the matter is, they really only want to score brownie points to feed their own shallow insecurities. Heaven forbid these people should "offend" someone or someones by telling the truth, because that would mean someone might get angry.
Our society is failing because too many people are trying to be 'politically correct'. It's all a crock of bull. You can care for someone and be tactful, and say things with love and concern without being spiteful and mean. As a matter of fact, in my opinion it's the ones who truly care who won't spin false webs of sublety and lies with their pretty but poisonous words.
Okay, off my soapbox. | |

The saying "All publicity is GOOD publicity" is drivel then, isn't it. It certainly seems that way, Nay. And I want to say how nice it is to be able to say what I truly feel on this site, DK. I'm so programmed to be careful what I write, that I actually worried about what I posted on this thread. I'm not ashamed to say that I, this old girl that I am, love this guy, Gerard Butler. In fact, I think that's the first time I actually said it. But when a person cares for someone, you have to let them know when they're waivering(if that's the proper word) a bit. You hate to see him lose all that he's worked so hard for.

| Yikes...
You know what bothers me? And maybe it's the fault of fans...once someone becomes enamored with G, they want to know everything about him. So when the razzis give the fans all these pictures and videos, and stories, whether true or not, you have some fans who feel guilty, but everyone wants to look, so as not to miss out on gorgeous photos.
It wasn't long ago that everyone was saying, "How come there are no pictures in magazines with G?" Now that he seems to be everywhere, people are annoyed.
It just seems that he can't please anyone. Give them what they want and they want something completely different.
Poor guy... | |

| I hate to think that his public image is changing from a hard working actor to a club hopping laughing stock.
This evening my inbox is filled with TONS of Google alerts, most of which have to do with crap and not his current and/or upcoming work. Being a site owner, I have to keep up on all the Gerry news to add to the site and forum. But personally I'm getting tired of hearing about who is supposedly "getting cozy" with him in a bar. It's getting old, and fast.

| I agree DK. The internet is flooded today with the most disgusting stories and commentaries, ranging from alcoholism to STDs. It is shocking how vile these stories are. I would be so embarrassed, true or not, if I was the person named in these stories. It is so damaging to a person's reputation. And today he is shown, yet again out clubbing and closing down another bar. It's like throwing chum to the sharks. Good grief, I wish someone would do something or give him some professional advice.
I will be so happy when filming begins on LAC and these stories hopefully die down. It's just so......appalling.

Alice, one thought I have had regarding the fervour for information you spoke about is again the type of information that is occurring at the moment. It's overwhelmingly negative at the moment and has to be damaging too. What impression do they develop as they seek this information?
Also I wonder about this: If you were going to hire someone for a position or were researching them for possible endorsements, charity patronage, would you avoid the ones with certain images, the ones who may be struggling, anyone with a hint of unreliability, etc? BUT then again, look at Kate Moss. Go figure!

| Interesting thought Nay, especially the Kate Moss deal. To me, Hollywood pats it's own back, which is why Kate is who she is. People outside the dream town are quite sick of it. But then, there's also the hits sites get. If people are actually looking up G news, he'll up his notoriety.
I always thought it was interesting to hear when pictures and videos come out, and all the fans who do look at the sites, come back and feel guilty and then rag on the razzi. Either you look and don't feel guilty, or don't look and guilt won't hit you.
I know, I know, human nature doesn't follow that. If I look, I'm not going to feel guilty. If I don't look, I can rant and rave with reason.
