Looks like Chris Cornell's song got nominated from MGP. It's not surprising. It's a really good song.
Rashida Jones, Sofia Vergara, Gerard Butler and Woody Harrelson announced the 2012 Golden Globe nominations early Thursday morning, with big names like George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt dominating the major categories.
The Golden Globe nominations closely mirrored yesterday's Screen Actors Guild nominations, with Viola Davis getting a nod for best lead actress in a motion picture drama for The Help, as well as George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt going head to head in the best actor category for The Descendants, J. Edgar and Moneyball respectively.
Michael Fassbender is also going up against the Hollywood heavyweights in the drama category for his critically acclaimed performance in Shame, as well as Ryan Gosling, who was snubbed at the SAG Awards. Gosling picked up two nominations -- a best actor nod for The Ides of March and a best supporting actor nod for Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Rooney Mara scored a nomination for the highly anticipated The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but she'll face steep competition with Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and Tilda Swinton all competing in the lead actress in a motion picture drama category.
On the television side, Modern Family was once again well represented with three nominations total, including best supporting actress and best supporting actor nominations for Sofia Vergara and Eric Stonestreet.
The 2012 Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will air live on NBC January 15.

Golden Globes Announcements: What You Didn’’t See!
Hollywood was up before dawn on Thursday for the announcement of the 2012 Golden Globes nominees and PARADE was there to witness all the behind-the-scenes action at the star-studded event.
Shortly after 5 a.m., the celebrity-filled morning commenced as Rashida Jones, Gerard Butler, Woody Harrelson, and Sofia Vergara paraded into a ballroom at the Beverly Hilton to read the list of this year’s honorees.
Kicking off the event, Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly took a playful jab at returning host Ricky Gervais, calling him a “naughty, naughty schoolboy.” The laughs continued when Jones, who was set to call out the first section of names, prematurely got up to walk to the podium. After the adorable Parks & Recreation star quickly scampered back to her seat, Butler gave her a good-natured pat on the back for the miscue.
When it was her turn, Jones got a cheer from the crowd when she announced that co-presenter Vergara is up for Best Supporting Actress in television. Vergara, turning heads in a strapless cocktail dress, raised her arms in celebration and blew kisses in the air.
While Butler was not nominated himself, his film and passion project Machine Gun Preacher was. The actor, looking handsome and trim in a dark suit, nodded in appreciation when Chris Cornell was announced as a nominee for Best Original Song for the film’s anthem “The Keeper.”
Following Jones, Butler made his own gaffe, which he handled with equal good humor, when he nearly left the podium before announcing his last category, Best Picture- Comedy or Musical. Earlier, he gave a knowing nod to Jones when he called out her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler’s name for Best Actress in television.
Next up, Vergara gleefully announced Best Supporting Actor in television, drawing out her Modern Family co-star Eric Stonestreet’s name with a Cheshire grin. She inadvertently got the crowd — and Butler — in stitches when she announced Best Director. After getting through The Artist director Michael Hazanavicius’ name (which Butler had joked about earlier since he too had been nervous about flubbing it), Vergara got to Hugo director Martin Scorsese. Almost home free, she pronounced the legendary director’s name incorrectly, calling him “Martin Score-says” instead of “Martin Score-say-zee.” The Colombian actress shrugged it off with a smile as she sat down.
Rounding out the morning was Harrelson, who handily won the wittiest moment of the morning. After announcing the category of Best Picture-Drama, he veered off script to plug his cop drama Rampart. “Rampart opens January 27. I don’t see it on this list. Lots of things were left off today, I just want to say.”
