Not everyone over there is bad. There are a few nice people, and as far as the rest goes....the message wasn't directed to the trolls and haters anyway. Besides, publicity is publicity...

Actually, I think some of the posters at IMDB are clever, insightful and wickedly funny.

There are, of course, some verra crunchy nuts.

If I might be dangerously candid....

Some of the worst treatment I have ever received on-line was not at the hands of the IMDB boards or their members. Sure, there are trolls there...but it's a message board and not a fansite...and that's commonplace on message boards, as they're not monitored like regular forums. When you lurk and/or post there, it's like caveat emptor....let the buyer beware. If you know how these boards are beforehand, you come to expect it and know what you might or might not be getting into before you post.

With that being said, it isn't the sites like IMDB that bother me. Like I said, I expect that sort of thing on a public message board. What disturbs me more is when bad treatment comes at the hands of members of fan forums - those who claim to promote and support comraderie, companionship, and freedom to be oneself with other members of like interests. Yet in many cases cliques form, bullies rule, and those who are on the 'outside' are ignored, shunned, and even blacklisted because they don't fit into what is considered the 'norm' (whatever that is).

None of us here are in no means perfect, and I hope this site never degrades or degenerates into that sort of forum. But my vision for this site is to be a place for those 'outsiders' to feel welcome. Not that the 'non-outsiders' aren't welcome...but on this board, I want everyone to feel included, valued, and equal.
