Gerry talks about falling off the smoking wagon

GERARD Butler started smoking again after a night out with Hollywood pal Russell Crowe.

The Scottish actor managed to quite the cigs for four years after more than 40 attempts to quit.

But he confessed that he was drawn back to smoking after partying with the Gladiator star in the summer.

“I was smoking then I stopped for four years,” he said.

“It took me 40 attempts to stop. I was hypnotized 23 times, I had my veins injected with sodium pentathol had my ears electrolyzed and my hands lasered.

“About three months ago, I was out with some friends — Russell Crowe was one of them. There was 12 of them and 11 of them were smoking. That was it, I was off.

“It was only a month, it was a little blip. I’ve got to tell you, it was horrific.”

Despite the idea of California being this health haven, everyone smokes in L.A. Everyone smokes in Oakland. Ok, that's a generalization, but we're not as healthy as everyone thinks we are. I think it's funny how actors try to play it off for the most part. They eat right, do yoga or pilates, work out tons of hours a day, and still smoke and drink. Go figure.
