This board is under construction

I just started this board last night, so there's a lot of work to be done. Please be patient while I work out all the kinks.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what they'd like to see, feel free to leave them here. I can't promise I can do all of them, but I can try.

Right now I'm working on adding sections. Once that's squared away, I can work more on the design aspects of the site. But you have to have places to post first.

Don't feel shy to create threads under sections. After I start better organizing everything I might have to rearrange some things, but I think it's safe to say we can start playing.

The darker gray post background is a bit too dark, makes the black font hard to read. Perhaps you could lighten it some. I'm liking the smilies.

Absolutely! *waggles brows* I think I have the Adult section set to be viewed by 18 and older only, but since I see the forum as an admin, I'm not positive. I'm wondering if there's a way to password protect it. I'll have to check on that.

Julie, I agree about the color. I like the color scheme, but it needs tweaked.

You should be able to chat and post now without having to wear tinted sunglasses and taking a bottle of Tylenol.

I'll work on the colors some more later, but I think it's time to go back to bed now.

The forum is much easier to read today. Very bright with the bright red.

I found the Adult section. I can get into it, there are no posts there, and it says Locked. It says I have permission to post new topics and reply to topics. There are no posting buttons, and when I clicked the Locked, I get a page that says this forum is locked you cannot post, reply or edit.

Yeah, I need to look into that adult section thingy. I have it set where anyone who is over 18 can view it...I think. Problem is, if you don't put your birthday in there, what would happen? I want to be able to password protect it instead. I'm sure there's a way...

Subsections and new categories to be added soon...including a cheating category. Gotta have a cheating category for all of us bad Gerry fans with the roaming eyes. And for all of the not so Gerry fans who come here because y'all just love me.

I like the new icons for New Posts and No New posts. Very different and interesting.

Why thank you. I designed those icons for another forum, but since I'm no longer a member there, I thought I'd bring them here instead.

They are! The one thing I just found out this board does NOT have and needs is password protected threads. I was on their support forum and someone else was asking about it, and they said it isn't a feature.

Who knows...if enough people request it, maybe they'll add it as a feature. In the meantime, I'll keep the 'adult' section for members only and only hope we're all over 18.

I say, if you don't want people reading what you write online, then you shouldn't put it online...some just don't get that.

It isn't that...what I'm concerned about is that I didn't initially make this an over 18 board. It's open to the public, which means that guests can read what is posted here. I really don't want to restrict this board to guests. After all, if guests aren't allowed to access the board's contents, then how are we going to encourage them to join? We're not hiding anything here, nor do I want to give the impression that we're hiding anything. My main concern is that I don't want underage people accessing things that could potentially get us into trouble.

What I have done for the time being is I have changed the category "Adult Section" to "Members Only". You must be a registered member to view or access this portion of the forum. This section will be devoted to adult fanfiction, adult conversation, and the like. I'm still going to research ways to password protect it, but this is a fix for the time being.

Think of the members only section as the 'gutter'. It's for R, NC-17, and more no holds barred dialogue and material. If registered members are offended by that sort of thing, then they have the option of not visiting those threads. But this will keep it from being open and readable by just anybody.

I realize what you are saying, but a lot of places that have the over 18 and separate places, because they don't want other people reading things they wouldn't say in public. How many times have I seen sites where a member writes something in the wrong place...something personal or "they didn't want men to read". It's happened.

This is a separate thing to ask.

I was trying to post a video. I see that we have the ability to do so, but when I put the link through, only a link showed up, not an embedded video.

Was I doing something wrong? Do I need to turn something on?
