Gerard Butler, who turns 41 next month, stepped out in Manhattan with visible gray hair (r.), much more than he had in March (l.) They say with age comes wisdom, but many people receive a few other things, too – like gray hair.

And at the ripe old age of, uh, 40, Gerard Butler is the latest victim of the usually unwanted hue.

The Scottish actor, known for his hunky leading man roles in "The Bounty Hunter" and "300," stepped out in Manhattan Wednesday with more than just his ladies' man rep.

Butler, clad in a blue shirt, jeans and black jacket for the DVD launch of Global Poverty Project's "1.4 Billion Reasons," had gray strands visible at his hairline and even in his beard.

The look was a sharp contrast from the short, one-color hairdo he sported during press appearances in March for "Hunter" and "How to Train Your Dragon."

But the actor also had his gray on display last weekend when he made a surprise appearance at Michigan State University to pump up the Spartans, specifically the school's basketball and football teams.

Butler might have been better-suited for the event had he shown up with hair a lovely shade of green – the Spartans' color.

Slow news day?

OH NO!!! STOP THE PRESSES!! 40 YEAR OLD MAN HAS STRANDS OF....*GASP*....GRAY HAIR????!!!

Sheesh, almost everybody starts getting some gray in their 30's and 40's, and some even in their 20's. Gerry didn't have the gray in March because his hair was colored. I wish he'd keep the gray, at least for a while. It looks much better than the dark he had for Shattered and PS I Love You. Much more natural and attractive, at least in my opinion.

It does look better when it's a mix of colors, the one color hue never looks right.

i thought it was funny. gerry's had those grays for 10 years now, hasn't he? he just covers them well and often. i kinda like him with the silver in his hair myself.
