Gerard Butler says he's bisexual. According to recent reports, Gerard Butler has been extremely busy out and about promoting his new movie "The Bounty Hunter" which co-stars Jennifer Aniston. There have been rumors over the past couple of months that Butler and Aniston are secretly dating, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.

In an interview with Go Get Em' magazine, Gerard discussed his character in "The Bounty Hunter" as well as some personal issues that had been brought up. When asked about the rumors regarding his sexuality, Butler responded saying, "You know, it's really nobody's business but my own. I mean, I'm a celebrity and I expect people to have questions or fantasies about my sex life, but there's a point where people need to wake up and say, 'Wow this is actually getting pretty personal'."

Of course, Butler didn't stop there. He goes on to say, "I think it's rather funny. I mean, people speculating as to whether I'm dating Jennifer. I'll be the first to admit, she's gorgeous. She's absolutely stunning and it was a priveledge to work beside her. What people don't assume, however, is that when we're filming, my eyes aren't on her but on my stunt double doing workouts between his takes. So yeah, I guess I am bisexual in that sense."

*UPDATE* We were going to wait until 12:00 AM before announcing this as an April Fool’s Day prank, but our inbox has been flooded with skeptical readers and we just couldn’t wait another 20 minutes before revealing that this was indeed an April Fool’s Day gag. Expect a lot more later today!

Wow! Okay, here are my points:

1. Did Butler's people know this was going to be done? I would hope so but I am not an industry insider.

2. It's really hilarious because of all the rumors and the recent pics from the AD feature.

3. This stuff is really better than anything on television, which I don't watch much of anyway. However I am online all day and this is a great diversion.

I have been contemplating going to graduate school in the fall and I think I will because I may have found a perfect thesis subject--The Gerard Butler Trainwreck. How hard must it be to have to worry about all the rumors while keeping the fangurls happy? Are the antics and silly outbursts planned? How does all of this really affect is career? But he is in EVERYTHING this week. I have to admire his people for that!

I don't think Butler really said this as a joke. I think the tabloid printed it as an April Fool's joke.

I have to wonder if they face a possible lawsuit printing something like this, even though they outed themselves as posting an April Fool's prank.

I think April Fool's pranks like that fall in with parodies, known to be fake and done for fun.

It might help his career though, since gayness is an "in" thing.

If the publication or broadcast outlet issues a retraction or correction then they cannot be held for libel or slander usually but the person offended can still try to sue. And stating it was a prank qualifies as a retraction I think.

I just looked at the Madrid town pictures. All males. If someone says he's gay and I saw those pictures, I would believe them.

I have gay male friends and he honestly comes across as gayer as any of them!

But....they hang out with a lot of girls.

But they don't have a homoerotic mural on their ceiling....

Don't care if he is or isn't but be true to yourself no matter which self it is! I could not live that way!

My gay male and female friends act like my straight male and female friends. They hang out with males and females alike. I wouldn't know the gay friends are gay if they didn't tell me or introduce their significant others.

I've never met celebrity gayness personally.

Nay, that's just it--I don't know. I have had some fun discussions with my friends about this because we love a good mystery and that is what this is. I will share some of my thoughts that are smattered with input from friends:

1. My experience with my male gay friends is that they tend to hang around women a lot. GB is almost always with men. When I visit one of my gay friends, people are also asking us if we are married because we get along so famously. Not to sound like a fangurl, but it is odd that he doesn't try to hide these friends who are accused to be his boyfriends. It does make you wonder if he is telling the truth about hiding his girlfriends, which as a celebrity he could do.

2. The mural. Where do I begin? I studied Greek mythology in college and everyone knows what that story is about! I don't believe for a minute that he didn't at least know the history. But there are two explanations for the choice. 1. He is bisexual. The story validates bisexuality. Zeus' love for Ganymede made him a bisexual God and maybe GB relates more to this part of the story. 2. I do love Baroque art and I have only glanced at the painting once or twice. It looks similar to the work of Peter Paul Rubens, who did do "The Rape of Ganymede." But Rubens also did a lot of Catholic inspired art, one of which I have in a post card that I bought in a museum years ago. I don't think anyone would call Rubens gay because he painted that because a lot of his other work was religious. But I wasn't around during the Baroque period so I don't know, lol! A lot of artists have done renditions of Ganymede and I can't tell which version it is. But it's a very strange choice for someone who claims to be straight. I don't find the rest of the loft to be particularly homosexual. I actually like it a lot.

3. The random kissing of strangers does seem to a publicity stunt to me. Or it could be to deflect the Anniston rumors. I don't buy them for a minute no matter what the explanation is.

4. But I saved the best for last. Here are my biggest red flags. On the first day that GB came on my radar screen I found this interview he did for a documentary. In it he says his assistant is like his f#$%^#g husband. Okay, I don't know any straight guys who would refer to another dude to as being like their husband. They would say "wife." Early in his career, he did an interview with a gay magazine. It wasn't the fact he did the interview but this paragraph:

"Growing up outside Glasgow in Paisley, Butler didn't necessarily relate to the plight of gay men, mainly because he didn't really know any. It was only after he moved to Glasgow that his eyes were opened. "I was amazed how free [gays] could be," he says. "I would have thought that a gay culture would not really be accepted there because historically it's a very tough city where not much out of the ordinary is tolerated. When I started going to university, a whole new world opened up to me."

He is ambiguous in that article about his own sexuality but does say "a whole new world opened up to me." If I were the reporter I would have asked 'in what way.' Was it because he had gay friends or that he finally found a world where he felt he belonged? Having a lot of gay friends doesn't make you gay. I would be a gay dude if that were the case.

If GB is a prankster, I am sure he is laughing his ass off at those in both camps. He could be deliberately appearing to have homosexual tendencies by not hiding where he lives but he could really be straight and love the ladies as he claims. But he could be laughing at the fangurls who are ignoring the obvious signs that he is at least bisexual. Those girls really are sad because they will come up with the strangest explanations for any sign he is gay.

Bottom line: It's a fun mystery to keep my occupied when I am waiting for clients to approve copy or call me back. I don't care if he is or isn't. But it's fun to watch!

While it really is none of our business, I don't feel bad for him because he is such a fame whore. If he were more private as many actors are I would have some sympathy. I think he brings on these questions himself. Maybe it makes some people want to see his movies but it's a turn-off to me and my friends.
