| Given how Gerry's fandom is already viewed outside of the 'ranks' (and even within them), I'm not sure I'd want this kind of story printed about me...but to each her own... Inverkeithing superfan jets thousands of miles to see Hollywood star's premieresby Matt Meade AN INVERKEITHING entertainment buff jetted out for the New York and LA premieres of film star Gerard Butler's new movie. Superfan Moira Fraser (39), Cochrane Avenue, mixed her love of travelling, entertainment and the hunky Scots actor to go star-spotting for the release of Law Abiding Citizen. And, incredibly, she has also attended the prestigious Golden Globes ceremony in LA every year since 2000. Ms Fraser, a flight administrator and pictured right with star Gerard, said, "Where some people are into sports, I've always been an entertainment fan. "I've met Gerard quite a few times. "He's one of the most fan-friendly celebs out there and that's why he's got so many loyal supporters. "Apart from being handsome, he's just a lovely guy with a great personality who has gone from strength to strength." She booked her flights for the New York September world premiere but managed to combine the holiday with a trip to the West Coast after winning a competition for the invitation-only LA premiere. She even managed to get tickets for the Glasgow premiere that screened earlier this month. Ms Fraser was last year asked to be a moderator on GBgals.com which has around 7000 members worldwide. As well as raising funds for charity, she meets up with other Butler buffs from across the world and has watched A-list stars like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney and Johnny Depp walk the red carpet at the Golden Globes. She buys a package annually that lets fans stay at the Beverly Hills Hilton, see the ceremony and rehearsals as well as "hang-out" near the stars themselves. "At the Globes, celebrities know fans will be there and they really make themselves available," she said. "It's the best award show because it's like a party where they can let their hair down. "You've got the very best of film and TV actors so anybody who is anybody is there." The 2003 film, Timeline, first introduced her to the Paisley-born actor's talents but it was Spartan epic 300 that finally converted her to all things Butler. She finished, "It's a great social activity which you make so many friends through so I combine it with holidays. "With Gerry, we just support him and go to the public events but don't intrude on his personal life. "He realises it's more than just about him, though he brought everyone together - Gerard has the best fans in the world." And what's Moira's verdict on Law Abiding Citizen? "It's fantastic, regardless of what the critics say. "It's edge of your seat stuff all the way through - you don't see things coming and there are some truly shocking moments. "This was an important film for Gerry because he both stars in it and is a producer. "It's like the film Se7en (1995) where you jump out of your seat - there are many moments like that," she said. | |

| Well, at least we know how she got around. I'm sure she thinks it's good press for her and the other site, too.
There are people out there who aren't afraid to be fans. I'm not, but the whole thing isn't about me. It's about the entertainer.

| But how is it good for GALS when it is only mentioned in passing and she doesn't actually talk about much other than hauling herself around the planet to see GB ...
It's all about the "me, me, me, me and GB" isn't it?
It's also a little odd that they listed her street address.
If this article doesn't send a clear signal to her about her habits, then nothing will. We may in fact be waiting for a different headline.

| This article is just too sad and pathetic for me. Sorry if that's mean, but it is. There's being a fan and then there's being a FANATIC... (yes, I know fan is short for fanatic, but not every fan is one) | |

| All I could think of when I read this was how much IMDB and JustJared was going to have a field day with her now.
I am a compassionate person...really, I am - even to a fault. And I was appalled at the comments made about her on JJ. Not that I think it's right to do so (quite the opposite), but I have to wonder how much one brings this stuff upon themselves.
I used to stick up for Gerry's fans when I was new to this "world" and didn't know any better, and as a result, sometimes I was dragged through the mud myself - not only by the naysayers, but by those who I defended. Now I just pretty much leave it alone, and take care of myself. After all, if they're not only defending their actions but flaunting them, who am I do try to justify what they do? And this isn't just directed at one fan, but in general.

Others sites go ga-ga even if just one mention of their name is somewhere on an article with regards to G...and mention of charity work, too. It doesn't have to be a lot words. I'm sure there were some back patting about this in the circle. And you agree with me, it was all about her, not much about G. I hardly think that this will make her see how bad it was to do this. I almost think that there's something else behind this article, but can't put my finger on it.

| Why am I not surprised? They are protecting their chicks. Say something that questions someone higher up, and poof, your words are gone. Right, DK?
It would be nice if we all just agreed that "it was a wonderful article about someone who really admires G". But if we did that, then the frenzy and stalking would continue to fester.
Ironic that she actually started in the IMDB crowd back in the day.
Sadly, if she actually thought that what she had been doing before, was not looking too great to a lot of fans and admirers, she wouldn't have done this article. As her actions prove that she doesn't give a rat's behind what people say...going all the way back to even Toronto, well, we only have our own opinions to throw out there to closed ears.
Sad...sad...really is. Oh well, her 15 minutes of fame will be gone soon, and she'll just show up somewhere else.

| The fact that Gals is not only condoning this but censoring those that speak otherwise is fueling a decision I've been pondering in my mind for months....deleting my account there. Oh heck, it's not like I ever go there anymore anyway, and I doubt it would hurt anyone's feelings. The only thing that has prevented me from doing so is the fact that it might be taken personally by some, and compromise this site and how it's viewed in the "Gerry" community. I can tell you, it has nothing to do with me being mad at anyone or hurt feelings. I'm over it now, and honestly I could care less what those people do anymore.
Truth is, lately I've really begun questioning my affiliations and how others view me as a person. I have my own reputation to consider (such as it is). It's time to drop some dead weights.

| DK; Hey. As I have said before and made it clear many times, I am not one for commenting just reading and boy have I!!!!!! I to though I have not used it for reasons as such will be deleting my account with GALs. To me it is not a fansit but a place of buttkissing, cliques etc. I have read where many ask a simple question such as when certain GALs said they knew the street Gerry walked on that day while in his gym attire... a few newbies/inquirers asked where it was instead of the decency of a answer they talked over these people like they didn't exist. (to name one concern and time) And in all honesty, who gives a flying fart!!!! SO WHAT....... gees give the street name!!!!! But, it is crap like this..... Then, to hear from several how they are done if they stand near or in a GALs group it is disgusting and even appalling!!!!!! As I recall, I remember a comment per .Net that fans whether or not you are on a fansite are welcome via Gerry. Yet, it isn't honored. Moira, as for me, can take a long hike off a Scotland Mountain ridge!!!! She is just as bad if not worse in asking a question and....... so I did.... though I knew the answer I asked if there was a pic of Gerry in Van Nuys.... (there was) she said there wasn't (have the em) SO!!!!! went in on the site where I saw her comments about the pics and informed her if she didn't know then how could she respond to the pics comments on another site....she never got back with me. My point is it takes only 1 person to mess it up for others. True, there are "fa-natics out there then again there aren't. And if GALs Admin can't and won't respect opinions and truth from commentators then why have a site? I am sure Gerry isn't stupid to not understand people are intitled to their opinion and I am sure he would respect it if they did voice it. (any/all concerns are welcome). And for these sites to say they don't allow it or kiss butt and so forth to me aren't really showing support for Gerry. To support someone is to allow all input in...... if I was him I would like to know how everyone is feeling and be honest about it. I am sure if he doesnt know now (but he will) how people are done (not just on certain fan sites but also at any type of gatherings) he would not be happy. Asking innocent questions like location of a pic, the name of a street to see if can stand in a group or by it and be done as they have and are is uncalled for. And now this article. I have read JJ and the takes on "fram"...... and some are true (about her actions-due to fact the wind blew in the same direction many times saying the same thing plus I challenged some). I am sure she really likes Gerry but this is extreme and overdone... (overdone/under....someone help me here) and before I did this bible, I had to hurl sorry gang. Anyway, at first I wasn't going to comment but then I had to. Hope I made sense due to fact I was very irritated and you shouldn't write po'd or irritated. But fair is fair....allowing 1 like GALs apparently has and not let others say their piece is wrong. BUT!!!! I am just a small turd in a big pile of shit... (oh, sorry Don, dookey). *hey, homey offer still stands...you can stay with me out in LA land when/if ya come out again....bring the pantry gang if ya want to.... I have 2 bdrms, tub, couch dog bed...... Peace. LW | |

| So, why does it happen?
Is it me? Because it seems to be that whenever women seem to get together around a single guy, there's hell to be had.
I don't want to go around bashing sites, but I'm all for letting out the feelings of disrespect and disregard for people who don't think alike.
Sami, with your long experience and my behind the scenes experience, why can't we all get along?

| I was involved with another fansite before this...my first and only other, in fact...and I can honestly say that the women there did not act anything like what I've encountered in Gerry's fandom. There were small spats here and there, yes....but nothing out of the ordinary.
I like to think that the extremism is the exception rather than the norm. Thing is, I'm not quite sure what fuels the craziness. It isn't as if Butler's the only single male actor out there with female fans....it's a mystery to me.

| It's nice to see you posting here again, LoneWolf...it's been a long absence. And thanks for the invite.... You know, I do try to be careful about what gets posted here about other sites, people, etc. because I don't want this to become a long thread about bashing other fans/people. Not that people are doing that here, but it happened on another Gerry site I won't mention (not Gals), and quite a number of people (myself included) had their names dragged through the mud by a person who used to be a member here. So the last thing I want is any hurt or hard feelings. With that being said, I don't believe in totally censoring people, either. Perhaps if people were allowed to voice disagreements in the first place without having their posts "made invisible", these opinions wouldn't escalate into hard feelings. Just because you're not allowed to voice something doesn't mean it doesn't exist, and (despite what the admins/mods/owners of these sites think) there's a lot of disharmony out there. The only reason I mention Moira by name is because the article is out there, and she obviously didn't have a problem with her fandom being discussed. It's like the big pink elephant in the room that no one is allowed to discuss. Sites claim that people are allowed to disagree, yet when they do they're treated like lepers or something. "You're allowed to have your opinion as long as it agrees with mine, the other admins, etc." That's really how it does down. And there's a caste system within this fandom that really has less to do with Gerry and more to do with patitng one another on the back. If you're in the circle, you can do whatever you want. If not, you have no rights. You're scolded and taught how you should behave, not only within the realm of the fansites but at public events, and even on other sites. I had mod privileges revoked from me on yet another Gerry forum simply for posting on IMDB. How's that for batsh*t? Stalking Gerry is one thing, but stalking his fans too? It's just crazy, and that's why I no longer get involved. I don't like people I don't work for and didn't birth me telling me what to do. I'm an adult and should know how to conduct myself, and if I don't then I have to bear the consequences of my own actions. I found myself getting caught up in all of it a while back, then stepped back and took a cold hard look at myself and didn't like what I saw. Even as recent as the premiere, I was a bit pushy myself in asking for a picture with Gerry at the after party. That was his time and I really had no right to do so, and afterwards I felt ashamed of myself for getting caught up in it. Just because everyone else does it doesn't make it okay, and I thought I was better than that. But I guess at times I'm not. I'm just glad he didn't tell me to f-off. | |

| I'm very happy to be part of this site, where it seems a more fair and balanced atmosphere exists, more so than in some places. I, too, think that Gerry would appreciate his fans being honest in their perceptions, feelings, and opinions, and would not want it constantly "sugar coated," and I certainly do not think he would like any of his fans being ostracized for being honest in their opinions. Gerry also has advocated harmony between the fans, and I think he would highly disapprove of the "cliques" that have formed where some are totally left out and ignored because they don't "conform" to the opinions and ideas of the "chosen few." There is absolutely NO equality on some of the sites, they are "run" by a "chosen few," and everyone else is just chicken feed. From what I have seen here, that is not the case, and I'm glad to be here.

| Lone Wolf, it's good to see you again!
Welcome, Phantom'sLadyRose, you will be quite happy, here, as we are not treated as school children wondering if we'll get reprimanded for writing our opiniuns. I, too, have been "slapped" several times, by another site for saying things that were disagreeable to the "chosen few". It even went so far as getting PM's from those same people. Anyway, I agree with Donna that we shouldn't turn this into a fan/site bashing, but as you can see, Donna let's us say what we will and then we move on. We can be ourselves, here. Glad to see you with us, PLR!
