Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) -- The Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles was evacuated on Saturday afternoon because of a bomb threat, officials told BNO News.

According to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department, a call came in to 911 stating that there was a bomb in the area. Nothing had been found as of 3.15 p.m. local time.

A watch commander for the Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed the hotel had been evacuated, but had no additional information.

Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler, stars of the soon-to-be-released movie "The Ugly Truth," and the Inter Milan soccer team were among hundreds of guests and workers evacuated from the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles this afternoon after a fire alarm sounded.

Theo Kingma, a photographer with the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., said he had gone to the hotel on South Doheny Drive to cover two news conferences with the stars, whose romantic comedy is to be released Friday. Heigl and Butler, along with at least 300 others, cooled their heels on Burton Way for about 45 minutes, Kingma said. The two then went into Il Cielo restaurant. The soccer players, meanwhile, lounged on the grass. Alas, no one had thought to bring a soccer ball.

Speaking from the scene by phone just after 3:30 p.m., Kingma said: "Here's somebody passing by in a bathrobe."

A hotel employee said police would investigate to learn why the alarm sounded.

Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl: Bomb Threat

Teaming up for afternoon press duties, Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler got an unpleasant surprise while at the Four Seasons Hotel on Saturday (July 18).

There for duties related to their upcoming movie, “The Ugly Truth,” the co-stars were forced to leave the luxury hotel due to a terrorist bomb threat.



With the Italian soccer team also evacuated, insiders tell that everyone had to go across the street to Il Cielo restaurant for a couple of hours until they were allowed back into the hotel.

As for their new movie, “The Ugly Truth” is about “a romantically challenged morning show producer (Heigl) who’s reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent (Butler) to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love.”

The Robert Luketic directed romantic comedy hits theaters this Friday (July 24).

While police were investigating a bomb scare at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles, actors Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler, inside the hotel promoting their upcoming film, The Ugly Truth, were forced to evacuate, along with 400 other guests.

For two hours, the stars mingled with fans outside the luxury hotel before retreating to the nearby Il Cielo restaurant. Butler, one eye witness tells PEOPLE, was spotted posing for pictures with members of the AC Milan soccer team, in town to play the Los Angeles Galaxy Sunday night. Heigl, barely recognizable with her hair dyed red, was seen leaving the hotel during the 1:45 p.m. evacuation.

Police investigated the premises and found no unattended packages or luggage and the hotel reopened two hours later. The bomb threat was delivered via telephone, police told PEOPLE.

I just hope...just hope that it wasn't a crazed fan's idea.

That thought had crossed my mind, but one report mentioned the word 'terrorist'. Then again, you know how news reports are (not that a crazed fan with a bomb wouldn't be a terrorist). They probably either don't have all of the details, or they're not sharing them yet. I wonder if there really was a bomb, or if it was just a scare.

I do know there have been some hotel bombings in the news recently. I hope this isn't the newest tactic of the terrorist groups. I can see the day when we have to get our luggage screened at the hotels as well.

Anyone who sets a bomb, or falsely calls in a bomb scare, is a terrorist.
