Appointing Moderator(s)

With the forum growing, the time has come to appoint my first moderator to help oversee the site. I have asked Nay to take on this responsibility, but she requested that I post it first to see if anybody has any objections.

If there are any concerns, etc. please PM me privately as to keep harmony on the board. I'll delay the final decision for another week, to give everyone an opportunity to respond.

Thanks for all of your support and help on this site. It couldn't be done without all of you, and it's much appreciated.

I don't have to be a moderator in order to be second in command. It's a big responsibility I could not take at this point and I think people would not want me as moderator anyway so I am fine with that. Second in command is just a friendly gesture entailing that DK and I are cool and I'm her second in command. Hope to clarify the confusion.

Maybe you should use a different label, because to most of us, "Second in command" means next in line to be boss. Maybe that's where the confusion is going. Your explanation really doesn't reflect the label you are using.

Maybe you should say, Second in line to be Donna's friend. Or Second in line to laugh at Donna's jokes, or supporting Donna.

Well, it is not my fault most people thought I meant that. You know what, I'm taking a break from this site. I think I need to and I will. I should have done that a long time ago but I ignored it.

Don't feel sorry. I said what I had to say. You can take it my meaning of the term as vague and inconsistent, but it is all good. That's your opinion. I do take partial blame for what I had said but I do not understand why anyone would think that I would want to promote favoritism, but I am going to keep my mouth shut for now on. Stupid me again.

But, I am going to say this. I just think that some people in here do not get what I am saying sometimes or my jokes. Maybe because I am younger than most of you guys here and you probably think I am a bit crazy and immature because of my remarks, but that's fine with me.

What the hell is going on here?

I start a thread to appoint a moderator...something to improve the quality of this site...and it turns into hurt feelings over someone's choice of words.

Remi, I'm sorry you're upset, but when you say 'second in command', I take it to mean in authority over this site. No one has authority over this site at this time but myself. I'm doing my best, but I can't be everything to everyone all of the time. The site is getting too big for me, which is why I'm now looking at appointing moderators.

If you were joking, fine....but don't get upset when others joke back. I think you're intelligent enough to know what I meant when I said "figurehead". What I meant was no one but me has authority over this site. It had nothing to do with anyone as an individual. And yes, I was joking as well.

Let's everyone please try to exercise the same lenience in others that we expect others to do for us. I don't want this thread or this site to become a battleground.

I don't. If anything, I'm refreshed by new and young people. I have worked with young people and find them bright and intelligent. Don't be offended by older people, Remi. You'll be one before you know it and the world will be a different place.

We all get that the internet doesn't always display what we really mean and things get mixed up and construed. It's a given and accepted. Unfortunately, too many people have been offended by what's said online, because we put our own voices in what we read.

We're all crazy here and have immaturity all over us. Honestly, you're really no different than anyone of us.
