Not that many designers mix clothes and food. But English designer Nicole Farhi has always done that in New York - when she opened her uptown boutique years ago right near Barneys on Madison and 61rst Street, she put a restaurant in the shop. That store is since closed, but even more interesting is 202, Farhi’s more eclectic boutique downton on Ninth Avenue between 15th St. and 16th next to Chelsea Market. It sells hippie style cozy clothes for men and women, homewares, glasses, candles - very South of France - and serves great brunch and lunch, including French press teas and killer French toast. On Sunday morning of fashion week, we spotted Susan Sarandon, her daugher Eva Murri, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Gerard Butler on a casting meeting - none of them acknowledging the other - and in typical New York fashion, no one made a big deal out of any of them, and there were no papparazzi anywhere. And yes, people were shopping for clothes. (And fyi, Farhi’s husband is the great playwright and screenwriter David Hare, who penned the script for the Oscar nominated “The Reader”.) - Merle Ginsberg

What is a casting meeting where no-one acknowledges each other? I found that oddly worded.

It was oddly worded. At first I thought Gerry was having the meeting with the other three in question, but I'm assuming now his meeting was with someone(s) different.

I'm still trying to picture this place. I'm picturing people eating among racks of clothes! geek

All this place is missing is a mechanical bull.
