'Dancing with the Stars' celebs heat up New York Fashion Week

Celebrities? Check. Over-the-top fashion? Check. Unlimited expense accounts? Well, not so much. New York Fashion Week kicked off Friday with a few concessions to the economic downturn, but for the well-heeled crowd and even better-heeled models, it was mostly fashion as usual.

There was certainly no lack of glitz. The Heart Truth show, which raises awareness about heart disease, had plenty of star-power. Dancing with the Stars co-host Samantha Harris was joined by Dancing alums Kristi Yamaguchi, Vivica A. Fox and others to strut the catwalk for the annual event in which stars wear red dresses created for them by famous designers.

After Samantha Harris stepped out in a one-shoulder gown by David Meister, she received a generous applause from actor Gerard Butler sitting in the front row.

This is what the 300 Spartan stud had to say...

"She looked amazing and her dress was out of this world. She was having a great time. That's the other thing, it's amazing the ones that look relaxed have much more fun."

Gerard how are your dancing skills? Perhaps you should put aside your Spartan attire for a bit, say three months or so -- and throw on a pair of dancing shoes. Hmm... Gerard Butler on Dancing With the Stars, now there's a sight! I think it is safe to say Carrie Ann Inaba (and Bruno Tonioli for that matter) wouldn't mind at all!
