| Awww, our first charity..... Donate a Goat in Gerry's Name! Note: despite the humorous aspect to this, this is a genuine real charity. The proceeds go to heifer.org, which helps fight world hunger.

| What a great idea and a worthy charity (even if the name is a little unfortunate).
This should be fun. Remember my name suggestions ...

| Some interesting reading everyone. HEIFER INTERNATIONAL
Heifer International was founded on a simple belief: ending hunger begins with giving people the means to feed themselves. Today, 9.2 million families in more than 125 countries move toward self-reliance through the gifts of livestock and training in environmentally sound agriculture. Recipient families "pass on the gift" by sharing one or more of their animals' offspring with other struggling families. Each recipient becomes a donor. This process enhances self-esteem, ensures program continuity, builds solidarity and multiplies the benefits of the original gift for generations to come. This simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief caught on and has continued for over 60 years. Today, millions of families in 128 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope.
Helping Hungry Families Feed Themselves
Heifer International does so much more than put food in the mouths of hungry people. Heifer helps people feed themselves. The goal of every Heifer project is sustainability – project partners achieving self-reliance. And year after year, as partner families “pass on the gift” of knowledge and one or more of their animals’ offspring to others in need, they become links in a network of hope, dignity and self-reliance that helps hundreds of others care for themselves.
Heifer envisions … A world of communities living together in peace and equitably sharing the resources of a healthy planet.
Heifer’s mission is … To work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the earth.
Heifer's Strategy is ... To “pass on the gift.” As people share their animals’ offspring with others – along with their knowledge, resources, and skills – an expanding network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe.

| I fixed the link in the first post...I hope. Apparently it was only showing for me yesterday, because I was logged into their site.
I'm hoping everyone can see the link now, and that it takes you directly to the Team Page instead of the Heifer home page.

| Thanks! Hmmm, I guess it does. I think it might be because it's showing under the team members, which at this point is just me on the team. When I donated it took my name, and I have yet to figure out how to remove my name from the donation page. I wish there was a way to donate anonymously. I'm not sure if you can though. | |

| No pressure. I won't goat...I mean, goad anyone into giving. It's of your own free will. I won't be giving any more until I get a job, either. | |
