Actor Gerard Butler thrills fans while filming in Gourock
by Paul John Coulter
HOLLYWOOD actor Gerard Butler gave Inverclyde fans the silver service after chatting and smiling for photos during a shoot in Gourock.
The Paisley-born screen star even asked three excited admirers to pose up for a snap of his own whilst perched on Cloch Lighthouse on Tuesday night.
Gerard is in town filming scenes for his new film ‘Keepers’.
Megan Cunningham, 22, from Greenock, was delighted to get her own picture of the actor – but was even more thrilled when he asked for one of his own.
She was out with friends Laura Melville and Sarah McConnachie, who are both 20 and from Port Glasgow.
Megan told our sister title the Greenock Telegraph: “We were just out a drive and drove past and my friend noticed the cameras and vans, so we got out and walked along. He waved down at us and then asked us to wave and cheer while he either took a photo or video of us.
Cloch Lighthouse is one of four in Scotland being used in the new psychological thriller, which is based on the unsolved mystery of the disappearance of three lighthouse keepers more than a hundred years ago.
Interior shots are being filmed in the Gourock structure as a stand-in for the famous Flannan Isles lighthouse in the Outer Hebrides.
There has been a frenzy locally since the Tele revealed the actor was in town, including at Cardwell Garden Centre where staff have even named a cooked breakfast in honour of the Olympus Has Fallen star.
Production trucks were stationed along Cloch Road during the filming and the road was closed for a spell on Tuesday evening.
