Gerard Butler Action Thriller 'Den of Thieves' Lands at STX (Exclusive)
Christian Gudegast, who co-wrote Butler's 'London Has Fallen,' is set to direct.
STX Entertainment has picked up and is now developing Den of Thieves, a crime thriller to which Gerard Butler is attached to star.
Christian Gudegast is set to direct from the original screenplay he co-wrote with Paul Sheuring.
Producing the project are Mark Canton and Tucker Tooley, as well as Butler and his manager Alan Siegel via the duo’s G-BASE production company.
The storyline focuses on $120 million that is taken out of circulation on a daily basis by the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve and a notorious crew of robbers that plan the ultimate heist right under the noses of the city’s best cops.
STX’s involvement is the latest development for Den, which has been in the works since 2008. The project was first set up at New Line and then later moved to Relativity, where Butler first became involved. It escaped the latter when the company went bankrupt.
Glenn Feig, Chris Bender and JC Spink are among the film’s executive producers.
Butler worked with Gudegast on London Has Fallen, on which the latter was a co-writer. The actor next stars in Geostorm, an environmental disaster movie from Skydance Productions and Warner Bros.
Butler is repped by CAA and Alan Siegel Entertainment. Gudegast is repped by WME, Management 360 and Bloom Hergott.
