Gerard Butler's Impression of an "American" Accent in 2003 Is Absolutely Amazing
Gerard Butler isn't the same actor as he was in 2003.
Thirteen years of experience have given the Scottish actor the chance to improve work on his accents, but more than a decade ago the Gods of Egypt star caught up with E! News and did his best American accent, and let's just say it's a doozy. Watch the video to hear Butler's best impression of the way Americans speak and, as a bonus, see how much he has changed.
Just look at his white tank top and killer sunglasses (insert sunglass emoji here). Ensemble aside, it doesn't look like he has aged a day, but that's probably because he's worked on quite a few films that require him to be in tip top shape like 300. Never forget those (CGI) abs.
Back then Butler was only starting to rise to fame, which meant he went unrecognized despite his various projects. Plus, his elaborate costumes for roles in Dracula 2000 and The Phantom of the Opera didn't help.
"I've been acting for a while now, and to be honest I've done some things that a lot of people have seen in my time and I never get recognized from any of them," he told E! News at the time.
Even though he has rocked what he has described as a "completely different look," the hunky star can be seen looking his muscular and normal self in the upcoming Gods of Egypt, in which he plays the villain/merciless god of darkness in ancient Egyptian times.
