He's such a good son: Gerard Butler tweets cute snap of his parents before taking them to the premiere of Olympus Has Fallen

He sent his mother 10 bouquets of flowers to celebrate her 70th birthday earlier this month, and on Monday night Gerard Butler proved himself to be the perfect son yet again.

The 43-year-old Scottish actor took his parents to the premiere of his latest film Olympus Has Fallen and he posted a cute picture to his Twitter page, ahead of the screening.

Along with the snap, he wrote: 'Folks in town for the premiere. My mum loves watching me kick some ass (especially when it's the bad guys).'

Family guy: Gerard Butler posted a picture of himself and his parents to his Twitter page on Monday night

Gerard and his parents Edward and Margaret, beamed as they posed for the snap with his father putting his hand around the actor's neck.

Later on the red carpet the trio had changed outfits and were dressed to impress on the red carpet at the Arclight cinema in Los Angeles.

Edward and Margaret looked to be every inch the proud parents, as they made their way into the cinema.

Gerard stars in the film alongside Ashely Judd and the pair greeted each other warmly on the red carpet.

The star plays Mike Banning in the action film, a secret service agent who finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack.

Using his inside knowledge, Banning works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers.
On Monday Gerard took part in a Reddit interview and revealed he had spoilt his mother for her birthday earlier this month.

He posted on the social networking site: 'My mum turns 70 the day after Mother's Day, and I sent her 10 bouquets of flowers, and I recorded her HAPPY BIRTHDAY at the Kelly & Michael show with the whole audience, and I recorded a message with the crowd outside the Kelly & Michael show, and with Bridgit Mendler. And I recorded another message with me and all my team and people on the street, and with every new line, new people jumped up. And I THEN recorded another HAPPY BIRTHDAY at the Piers Morgan show with me, Antoine, and Angela Bassett. So i sent her FOUR HAPPY BIRTHDAY songs.'
The Scottish star also spoke out about his decision to quit law to pursue a career in acting.

He wrote: 'I always enjoyed the idea of studying as a lawyer and had a romantic notion of what it would be like to practice as a lawyer – but when reality hits you, and suddenly you’re in the office trying to perform as a lawyer – I realized that this is not what I wanted to spend my life doing. I didn’t want to find myself retiring and never having been brave enough to follow my dreams.'
