Today's Hot Red Band Trailer: Raunchy Ensemble Comedy Movie 43 Stars Emma Stone, Halle Berry and Gerard Butler as a Leprechaun
Leprechauns, ruined birthdays, and home school taunting
Romantic comedy anthologies are becoming rather popular these days, particularly ones that revolve around a particular holiday, but comedy anthologies are a hard thing to come by — 2007's The Ten comes to mind as does the classic Kentucky Fried Movie — but coming early next year is Movie 43, which stars almost the entirety of Hollywood and has a director list almost as long. In fact, it's hard to believe there are some actors and directors that aren't associated with Movie 43.
Revealed in just the red band trailer alone, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris share a romantic(?) moment; Halle Berry ruins a blind kid's birthday; Terrence Howard reminds a basketball team of the advantage they have; Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts decide to give their home-schooled son an authentic high school experience; Emma Stone checks in on Kieran Culkin's STD; and Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville capture a leprechaun (Gerard Butler). That's not all, of course, Chloe Grace Moretz, Richard Gere, Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet also appear in the very NSFW trailer, which does its very best to be as outrageous and offensive as possible.

Whether Movie 43 is just a loose collection of unrelated sketches or a more structured anthology (The Ten was thematically connected in that each vignette was based on one of the Ten Commandments, for instance) isn't revealed in the trailer, but director Peter Farrelly, who helmed a segment of the movie, wrote in to the comments section of a HitFix article and explained that there is a "framing device" to Movie 43, one that is not unlike the recent, Reelz recommended, horror anthology V/H/S, wherein a group of thieves break into a house to find a particular video tape and are forced to watch several grisly videotapes during their search.
It's not like Kentucky Fried Movie. It actually has a framing device--3 computer geeks trying to find Movie 43, the most banned movie in history. Along the way, they stumble upon other hidden gems.
Movie 43 was shot back in 2010, but looks poised to finally be released on January 25, 2013. Justin Long (Going the Distance), Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses), Leslie Bibb (Zookeeper) and many more co-star, all of which can be seen on the movie's IMDb page. There, you can find the extensive list of writers and directors as well.
