Ran into GERARD BUTLER (star of 300. or PS I Love You. or The Ugly Truth.) tonight at a bar. He’s filming a movie in my tiny college town, and I just happened to be at the small, less well-known bar this evening (because I f*cking love their Bloody Marys). I was feeling feisty tonight, so I wore my pretty sweet Keystone Light cowboy hat (as seen above). I stood in a spot and just stared. He walked past me on his way to sit at a table right next to me. He stopped, looked at me, and told me that I have a really cool hat. I said thanks…then I worked up the courage, walked over to him, and here was the conversation:

Me: I just need to let you know that I know you’re stalking me.

GB: ?

Me: You filmed a movie that took place in Sacramento, which is where I’m from. You showed up in South Africa while I was studying abroad there. And now, you are here in Santa Cruz. I’m onto you.

GB: You’re right. I loved you from the first moment I saw you.

Me: I understand. What’s not to love about me? Especially when I’m in this really sweet hat.

GB: I just can’t help it. You’re a beautiful and wonderful woman.

Me: Hey, thanks!

Then he asked my name, we shook hands, and we went on our merry ways. Couldn’t get a picture because his manager wouldn’t allow it, but, IT WAS THE BEST NIGHT EVER.

That sounds like a cool encounter. She was pretty brave to walk up to and initiate that kind of witty banter with a celebrity she doesn't know. I don't think I could pull that off. I admire her confidence. What a great conversation! And she wasn't disrespectful and didn't overstay her welcome during his personal time. Good for her.
