Gerard Butler is 'Painting the Night Red' for HaitiSeptember 8,
Gerard Butler will join Paul Haggis and George Stroumboulopoulos for an intimate cocktail event, Painting the Night Red, sponsored by Artists for Peace and Justice on Friday, September 9 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Artists for Peace and Justice, established in early 2009, is a fundraising effort founded by Paul Haggis and friends that encourages peace and social justice and addresses issues of poverty and enfranchisement in communities around the world. The organization’s immediate goal is to build schools to serve the poorest areas of Haiti, providing an education, hot meals, clean drinking water and regular medical treatments to the children living in the slums.
Crews are currently working on schools that are scheduled to open in October 2011 for approximately 800 Haitian students. 7th grade students at the Academy for Peace and Justice graduated from the program in July 2011 after the first year of APJ's program.
Butler serves on the APJ Board of Directors.
The event will be held at AME, 19 Mercer Street, Toronto from 8:30pm - 11:30pm.
100% of proceeds will go to APJ health and education initiatives, creating brighter futures for children living in the poorest communities of Haiti.
Tickets are $150 and can be purchased by calling Katherine at NKPR. Call 416-365-3630 x248 or email katherine@nkpr.com.
