Gerard Butler hits the waves for some surfing lessons on Friday (August 26) in Malibu, Calif.

The 41-year-old Scottish actor took a dip in the ocean with two instructors before heading to the showers to rinse off.

The day before, Gerard was spotted taking his pug Lolita for a walk around the neighborhood.

Gerard reportedly “might be in talks” for the big screen adaptation of the novel “Firing Point” retitled Hunter Killer.

The film would center around a team of NAVY Seals in a submarine sent on a mission to Russia to stop an admiral from starting war with America, according to ComingSoon.net.

What a wipeout! Beach boy Gerard Butler struggles to stay on his surfboard on a rainy day


Hailing from Scotland, you would think Gerard Butler might be used to a drop of rain.
But the actor looked to be struggling as he went for a surfing session during a downpour in Malibu, California today.
The suave star battled to keep his composure - not to mention his balance - but the choppy waters proved to be more than a match for the 300 star.

Eventually he was forced to leave the beach with his tail between his legs after finally accepting defeat at the hands of mother nature.
He hauled his blue and white surfboard along the beach, as he headed for the exit.

However the 41-year-old's brief beach appearance showed off more of his increasingly toned figure.


The actor looked athletic in a tight-fitting wetsuit that gave his fellow beachgoers an eyeful of his bulging muscles.
Perhaps Gerard was getting into shape as preparation for the rumoured reboot of Romancing the Stone.
He is being groomed to star in the flick alongside his Ugly Truth co-star Katherine Heigl.

The pair would take the roles of Jack Colton and Joan Wilder, which were played by heavyweights Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in the 1984 original.
And with former model Kitsch more than a decade younger than Gerard at a relatively sprightly 30-years-old, perhaps he felt the need to do more exercise to compete.
The actor has also been shooting comedy Playing the Field alongside Catherine Zeta Jones, Jessica Biel and Uma Thurman.

Katherine Heigl is not 30. She was born the same month I was. We will both be 33 in November. I'm assuming that's who they meant by "Kitsch".
