Film by British director to end Taipei film festival
Taipei, May 15 (CNA) British actor Ralph Fiennes's directorial debut will be the closing offering at this year's Taipei Film Festival, the organizer said Sunday.
Coriolanus, adapted by Fiennes from Shakespeare's play, will be screened on July 16 to bring the annual festival to an end.
The showing will also be the Asian premiere of the Berlin Film Festival contender.
Fiennes, who played the protagonist, Caius Martius Coriolanus, on stage in 2001, takes the starring role, as well as directing.
The English Patient star has set the scene in modern Eastern Europe instead of Roman times.
Vanessa Redgrave plays the violent general's mother, with Gerard Butler as his enemy, Aufidius.
The film festival will kick off on June 24, with London selected for this year's "City In Focus" program.
Four British films made in the past two years will be screened:
