OLV Featured Reader: Jamie hits the Red Carpet in NYC

Though we haven’t been as faithful about it as we had hoped to be, this year we’re trying to shine a spotlight on a few of our longtime readers who have sent us some of our best tips and stories and let everyone else share in their experiences too!

This week, we’re featuring one of our readers in NYC, Jamie! Check out a few of her favorite celeb sightings below and if you’d like to be considered as one of our featured readers, let us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

I’ve been doing celeb events for a little over a year now. I started last Mother’s Day when my mom asked me to get her Gerard Butler’s autograph for Mother’s Day at the Bounty Hunter premiere.

Gerard is one of the nicest celebs ever. He took the time to sign autographs, take a photo with me, and recorded a special Mother’s Day message to my mom that I was able to show her. She loved it! I ran into Gerard again at the Conviction premiere last October. I told him how much my mom loved the video, and he ended up calling my mom to say hello.

My favorite premiere was probably The Tourist premiere. I had waited outside an after party while people were sneaking in. The security ended up telling me how impressed he was that I wasn’t trying to get in. I told him I didn’t mind waiting outside. We began talking about premieres, and I told him that Angelina Jolie and Clint Eastwood were the top two celebs I would love to meet. The security ended up telling me he was working the Tourist premiere and I found myself with a premiere ticket and after party pass!

The security was really tight at the after party around Angie and Brad. If you got near them a publicist lady would ask if you knew them and then tell you to back away if you didn’t. I finally talked to a man standing near them who ended up being Angie’s assistant. He introduced me to her and then she spent about 10 minutes with me. She was so nice. She asked what I wanted to do and I told her production work. She asked for my number in case she could ever help me. I’m sure she was just being polite, but I was shocked that a woman of that caliber of fame was so down to earth and kind.

I attended the Rabbit Hole premiere. I had waited at The View to try to meet Nicole Kidman in the freezing cold but she didn’t stop. I saw her inside the premiere, so I just walked up to her and she remembered me. We talked about how cold it had been and she was very cool about taking a photo with me after that. She even patiently waited while a woman asked how my camera worked.

I got to meet one of my favorite childhood actresses Julia Roberts when she promoted Eat Pray Love last year. I had made a sign for her at Live! Regis and Kelly that said, “Julia, will you please take a photo with me”. She sent out her security because I guess she liked the sign and he took me in to her. She was really nice to me. I was shaking because I just would have never expected it to happen. I apologized for being so nervous and she said it was the bodyguard’s fault for being so scary, haha! She took a photo with me, then looked at it and said we should take another one. The second one did come out a lot nicer. I printed the photo and took it to the premiere. While she was signing she saw the photo and shouted “Jamie is in there!” I have that signed photo in a frame!

My favorite celeb overall is Tina Fey. I adore that woman, and she is my hero. I go to any event I can with her. I met her for the first time at the Date Night premiere. I was near tears because my photo didn’t turn out with her. Tina kept saying she would come back as she continued to sign autographs. A lot of celebs say that, but then don’t, so I was pretty upset. Tina kept her word and I blabbed that she was my hero. Every since that night, that woman has been a saint to me.

I got to spend a day on set for 30 Rock and watched her and Jane Krakowski film a scene. I had been bidding on a charity auction to visit the set. The auction ended up going into the thousands, but the actor who plays Grizz had told me to tell him what came of it. I told him it was too expensive for me and he invited me to visit anyway. Tina was filming an evening scene, but when she came to set for her scenes she said I could stay to watch her film.

I know what you mean, Nay.

Just when I start to get a little disillusioned with him from time to time because of the reports of his antics, the big lug goes and does something like this.

I love you I love you I love you

Oh but, Nay. Under the Butler's spell OLV article with fan encounter 719362 it is not the light that is calling me, but the dark of night. OLV article with fan encounter 687796

Since you're not a fangirl, I might have to refresh your memory of the Phantom's call of seduction:OLV article with fan encounter 128351 "Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light......and listen to the Music of the Night."

Okay....I need help. Really and seriously...

Oh the plus side, between this post and my previous one, I've finally found an excuse to use all those Phantom emoticons that I've always wanted to use. So, maybe I have a reason to live after all. OLV article with fan encounter 852437

Okay, I've heard of "The Tortoise and the Hare", and maybe I'm just exhausted, but that went over my head. Care to fill me in? scratch

OLV article with fan encounter 415251

Hey!! I must protest! I'm a fan, but I have my limits. You'd probably never find me waiting outside in the rain for hours just to get his autograph or a pic with him and have two seconds of his time that he might forget two seconds later. He wouldn't wait in the rain for hours for me. And he's no more important as a human being than I am. (Not that there's anything wrong with trying to get an autograph/pic from him, BTW, just to clarify. Lots of people do! And they're perfectly normal.)

However, I'll admit, I'm smitten with the guy. I just don't put him on a pedestal.

That was hilarious though, Nay! Loved it!
