Gerard Butler - Vanity Fair Oscar Party!

Gerard Butler hangs out with Jason Bateman at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday (February 27) at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood, Calif.

Gerry wore head to toe Ferragamo for the soiree, which was hosted by the magazine’s editor, Graydon Carter.

The day before, the 41-year-old Scottish actor attended the Film Independent Spirit Awards Voter Party and met up with his P.S. I Love You co-star Hilary Swank.

He then hit the Montblanc cocktail party later in the evening.

Two comments:

The hair is dyed.

It looks like Alan and his funky hair is talking to Jessica Biel in the background.

Yep, that is the hair dude in the background.

Funny story

In 1999, my sister and I went to Mexico together for 3 weeks. On one day trip, we met a gay couple from NYC. One was super friendly and chatty and one was too cool to talk. The chatty cathy guy worked at Ferragamo in the city and, when he said this, my sister looked blankly at me. I said under my breath "Ferragamo dahling. Ooh la-la"

I don't get it. I do know Ferragamo is a fashion house. I don't get the other parts.

My sister has no idea, and had no reason to know or care, that Ferragamo was a high end fashion house. The smug way chatty cathy said it was as though the WORLD should know who Ferragamo is. Pretentious twat.

I'd like one of these celebrities to do a Sharon Stone one year on the red carpet and tell the world they are wearing a shirt/suit/dress/underwear from Target or K-Mart or wherever she bought it. Bravo Stone!

It was the GAP, Nay. I remember all the fuss that caused. Good grief, if she'd said the GAP shirt was Vera Wang or something, it would have been interesting to see just how many of these fashion snobs would have never guessed the difference. Kind of an "Emperor's New Clothes" type of thing.

its amazing to me that we (society in general) worry about so many people being out of work, homeless, without medical insurance, etc, but expect to see these celebs in million dollar dresses. i don't get it....and it's another reason i don't bother to watch awards shows.

Distracting role

Gerard Butler was once again in his usual charming form at the Vanity Fair party. The handsome Scottish actor hung out with action star Jason Statham and his Victoria's Secret model girlfriend, Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Butler told us he was about to start shooting his new movie, "Playing the Field," with Uma Thurman and Jessica Biel. He joked, "I play a former athlete who coaches his son's soccer team and gets distracted by the soccer moms -- so it's going to be a challenging role for me."

I thought it was rather bold of her, Emily and Sami. She wore her husband shirt on another occasion too didn't she?

I would have thought it a little more sensitive to lower the wattage on the dresses, gift bags and outfits in the light of the US current economic climate. $75 000 for a Nominee's goodies is outrageous.

Another article ...

http://www.accesshollywood.com/stars-pick-up-swag-at-the-lg-cinema-3d-hdtv-gift-lounge-backstage-at-the-film-independent-2011-spirit-awards_article_44464

SANTA MONICA, Calif. --
Host Joel McHale may have made everyone laugh their way through Sunday’s Independent Spirits Awards on the beach in Santa Monica on Saturday afternoon, but meanwhile there was a frenzy of celeb activity in the gift lounge backstage.

Walking around the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge, Rosario Dawson bumped into good friend Vanessa Hudgens and the two quickly hugged and looked for their shared manager to demand they shoot their next movie together. Newly single Hudgens, star of the upcoming “Sucker Punch,” showed up with “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” co-star Josh Hutcherson. They two spent the last few weeks shooting in Hawaii. Vanessa was clearly giddy about Josh – the two did not leave each other’s side once and she couldn’t help but dance around the lounge all day. Before leaving together, Vanessa made sure to introduce Josh to all of her friends including Rosario!

Another celeb impressed with the LG’s Next Generation 3D TV was “Gossip Girl” star Michelle Trachtenberg. Michelle put on the Swarovski 3D glasses and shouted, “Who has more bling - my ring or the TV?” She loved the 3D TV’s so much she put in an LG Cinema 3D HDTV order the same day. Though she and Vanessa reportedly were not on speaking terms after Michelle filmed “16 Again” with Vanessa’s ex-flame Zac Efron, the hatchet seemed to have been buried.

Naomi Watts, nominated for best supporting female, and her best friend Nicole Kidman who was nominated for best female lead, stopped by the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge together to experience the Next Generation of 3D TV. The two kept close, giggling, and ran off to meet up with Naomi’s husband Liev Schreiber shortly after.

Later that night at the Spirit Awards Voters Viewing Party presented by LG Cinema 3D HDTV, Gerard Butler met up with Hilary Swank and talked about their upcoming projects. Before they even took a second to catch up, they were excitedly trying on LG Cinema 3D HDTV glasses and experiencing the Next Generation of 3D TV. While Gerard enjoyed the clear 3D image through his fancy frames, Hilary and other guests enjoyed the sight of dapper Gerard in his new accessories. After the success of two-dimensional “P.S. I Love You,” there is still no word on how many dimensions their next project will have.

While experiencing the Next Generation of 3D TV in the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge backstage at the Spirit Awards, actress Jane Lynch took a moment to share her thoughts on the next generation of Hollywood. When asked what she thought of Justin Bieber’s new haircut, the “Glee” star replied, “It’s cute, but he still looks like a lesbian.” Trachtenberg didn’t mind the trim noting that Justin “is adorable in every way” before joining actress Malin Akerman for an LG Cinema 3D HDTV adventure. No word yet on whether the girls made a date to see Justin’s new 3D film “Never Say Never.”

Akerman, who was so busy getting ready for the Spirit Awards she didn’t have time to eat that morning, made a beeline for the bowl of Pure Dark chocolate as soon as she stepped into the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge. Leaving her husband at home, Malin’s plus one for the occasion was a close friend who had been her roommate when both their careers took off. After partaking in more than her share of Pure Dark chocolate, Malin confessed to being a chocoholic. A loyal friend to the end, Malin said, “Good energy brings good things,” before chatting up Michelle Trachtenberg, Vanessa Hudgens and Jesse Eisenberg.

Despite the windy weather outside, actress Anne Heche and boyfriend James Tupper were cozy inside the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge. The couple couldn’t keep their hands off each other as James helped his lady pick out a skimpy Nautica bikini before grabbing matching Vera Bradley beach totes. The only time they left each other’s side, was when Anne ran over to snap a quick picture with Vanessa Hudgens and begged for the photographer to send her the picture - her son is a huge fan!

Despite playing a notorious ladies’ man on TV, “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm only had eyes for his lady Jennifer Westfeldt inside the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge at the Spirit Awards. Stopping to grab Altoids SMALLS, Jon popped a mint into his mouth before leaning in to kiss Jennifer while checking out the Next Generation of 3D TV. After their tender moment, they both snagged some his and hers Nautica swimsuits to prepare an upcoming vacation.

After being a part of last year’s biggest 3D blockbuster, “Avatar” star Zoe Saldana was thrilled to experience the Next Generation of 3D TV in the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge at the Spirit Awards. Despite relentless winds and wintry temperatures, the starlet’s sun dress and dandelion pumps caught the eye of Heche who was clearly ready for a change of seasons in her maxi floral dress. After exchanging pleasantries about the unpredictable weather, Zoe admitted that her outfit was “perfect for spring, but I’m freezing my cheeks off!”

Though they’ve had their fair share of relationship drama on TV, “Private Practice” actors Kate Walsh and Taye Diggs were inseparable at the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge backstage at the Spirit Awards. Chivalrous Taye waited outside the ladies room for Kate and the starlet returned the favor by walking her co-star around the Lounge. The two were so close that they were handed an AMC Theater gift card to share, but quickly clarified that they would need separate gifts so that they could take their respective significant others.

Stopping by LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge after the show, Spirit Awards host Joel McHale tried on the LG Cinema 3D HDTV glasses and exclaimed, “I look like a Kardashian!” Meanwhile, Spirit Awards nominee Mark Ruffalo’s wife Sunrise Coigney handed her husband a pair of New Balance RevLite 890 and joked, “My husband needs to get in shape to play The Hulk!” Mark, who recently signed on to star in Marvel Studio’s new Hulk movie, did not let his wife’s jab get to him and headed over to Joel to check out LG’s Next Generation 3D TV. Testing the 3D TV from all angles, Mark was so impressed he decided to take one home to his three kids exclaiming “My kids will love it!”

In the midst of red carpet royalty, another favorite couple of friends in the LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge were actress Nia Vardalos and “The Office’s” Kate Flannery. The two were attached at the hip while previewing the merchandise from booth to booth. They tried on matching New Balance RevLite 890’s and filled up on Pure Dark chocolate before running into Kate’s costars Rainn Wilson and Craig Robinson.

LG Cinema 3D made a donation on behalf of each star who stopped by to “tune in for charity” raising $125,000 for Project Involve, Film Independent’s signature program for increasing diversity in the film industry.

It doesn't bother me what people do with their money, as long as it's their private money. If they have money to burn and burn their own money, then more power to them. What bothers me are the people who get extravagant on the public's money.

I don't typically watch award shows. I find them boring, always have. And the over-extravagance is ridiculous. If they want to spend their money on such foolishness, it's their business. But I don't have to gloat along with them by watching. Not that I'm downing those who do, if it's their cup of tea. I know a lot of people really enjoy watching these awards shows, which is probably a big part of the reason they have 75,000 dollars to spend on frivilous gifts to each nominee.

http://www.celebitchy.com/143565/gerard_butler_talks_about_seducing_soccer_moms_for_a_movie/

Somehow, I missed that my husband Gerard Butler was also at the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party on Sunday. How did that happen?!? Anyway, this is just a little reminder, for those Butler-holics amongst us: Gerard is still around. And still hot. Why the hell didn’t he get to present something at the Oscars. Here’s my take: the Oscar viewership is mostly women. So give us what we want - the biggest fashion girls around, and all of the hot guys you can gather up. That means Gerard, Clive Owen, Michael Fassbender, Jon Hamm and Ewan McGregor all get lifetime passes to present at the Oscars. Because why not? I’m tired of trying to get excited about Matthew McConaughey and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Page Six also had this little behind-the-scenes story about my husband:

Gerard Butler was once again in his usual charming form at the Vanity Fair party. The handsome Scottish actor hung out with action star Jason Statham and his Victoria’s Secret model girlfriend, Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Butler told us he was about to start shooting his new movie, “Playing the Field,” with Uma Thurman and Jessica Biel. He joked, “I play a former athlete who coaches his son’s soccer team and gets distracted by the soccer moms — so it’s going to be a challenging role for me.”
[From Page Six]

Yes, I read about that movie last week - Gerard is the lead, and “soccer moms” like Uma Thurman and Jessica Biel are trying to get into his pants. God, I hope his character ends up with Uma and not Jessica. I just can’t see that Gerard and Jessica would have any chemistry together… but Gerry has surprised me before. He managed to have chemistry with Dame Heigl in that terrible movie they did together, and from what I know, he’s like her only male costar that didn’t out-right hate her. So Gerard definitely has a way with his female costars. Still, I would prefer him and Uma.

Also - why does Jessica Biel stand like a bodybuilder? Does she want to date A-Rod too?

I guess I'm not the only one who noticed the dye job:

Pics at link:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1361816/OSCARS-2011-Gerard-Butler-hits-bottle-dyes-greying-locks-burnished-brunette-again.html

Gerard Butler hits the bottle as he dyes his greying locks a burnished brunette again

Just last week, he had his fans swooning after it looked like he'd turned his back on artifice to become a natural silver fox - but it seems that Gerard Butler has hit the bottle again.

The Ugly Truth star has banished his grey bits and become a brunette again.

Rumours had been growing about the 41-year-old's barnet after it had turned rather two-tone, dark brown with blonde streaks.

When the star revealed a lot of grey hairs around his forehead last week, it seemed that he'd given up the battle and had let nature take its course.

But the Scottish actor appeared to have had a chemical helping hand with his hirsute colour issues as he left the Vanity Fair Oscars party in the early hours of yesterday morning, and was back to a glossy chestnut brown again - although he appeared to have missed his beard.

He was still showing some silver hairs in the salt-and-pepper stubble he's sporting at the moment - though of course, that is easily shaved off.

However, dyed hair or no, it didn't seem to put any of the ladies off at the West Hollywood bash - the star was rumoured to have chatted up a bevvie of beauties.

Gerard recently replaced former Lost star Matthew Fox as the male face of L'Oreal, so it's clear that his appearance is currently very important.

He certainly doesn't seem to be showing any white hairs in the billboard adverts for the cosmetics brand.

Meanwhile, Gerard is gearing up for a bumper year on the big screen.

He's starring in Machine Gun Preacher and Movie 43, the former based on the true story of Sam Childers,a former drug-dealing biker who became a crusader for hundreds of Sudanese children who've been forced to become soldiers.

Movie 43 meanwhile is an ensemble comedy of short stories starring a host of big names including Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Uma Thurman, Kristen Bell, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts and Richard Gere.
He's also just completed comedy Playing The Field, where he stars as a professional athlete trying to coach his son's soccer team - while fending off his teammate's mothers.
That hits cinema screens next year.

I think I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Have you ever heard the word bevy (or in this writer's spelling, bevvie) used before where the words "of beauties" didn't immediately follow it? I guess it's an appealing phrase for writers because of its alliterative sound. But still, can't there ever be bevies of other things? Question

Though in Gerry's case, a collection of multiple beautiful women is something he has a hard time staying away from.

I've never used the word bevy. I've seen it only used in fluff news articles alliteratively describing something like "a bevy of bathing beauties". Why isn't there ever a bevy of bathing bronzed boys?

I've never read a gay magazine. Never read a women's magazine either. I refuse to spend money on them, and I've never been to anyone's place who has them. I've read men's magazines. I don't look as good as the ones in there.
