GERARD Butler says his sex life has taken a hit now he’s famous.

The Scottish actor — who has been linked to a string of Hollywood beauties, including Jessica Simpson and his The Bounty costar Jennifer Aniston — admits he gets “laid” “less” now than what he used to.

“I think I get laid less now than I used to, because I’m way more paranoid now — look at f****** Tiger Woods!” Butler said in an interview with as US magazine.

“I mean, I’m nowhere near as naughty as I used to be, partly because I did a lot of that when I was drinking.

“I’m not saying I’ve cut that part out. I’m certainly no angel. There’s no smoke without fire. But, here’s the thing: while they’re accusing me of that, I’ve probably been off somewhere else doing damage with someone else.

“I’m pretty smart like that. I know how to get away with these things.”

“In the last five years since coming out here, I’ve had two relationships. I’m not a big relationship guy.

“One of my vices is, I’m too wrapped up in myself and not always in a good way.”

Gerard Butler may be known as a Hollywood bad boy, but the “The Bounty Hunter” star says he’s cooled things down – thanks to anxiety.

“I think I get laid less now than I used to, because I’m way more paranoid now. Look at f***ing Tiger Woods! I mean, I’m nowhere near as naughty as I used to be, partly because I did a lot of that when I was drinking,” he told the April issue of Men’s Health. “I’m not saying I’ve cut that part out. I’m certainly no angel. There’s no smoke without fire. But here’s the thing: While they’re accusing me of that, I’ve probably been off somewhere else doing damage with someone else. I’m pretty smart like that. I know how to get away with those things.”

While the star has been linked to a number of actresses – including “The Bounty Hunter” co-star Jennifer Aniston – following his breakthrough role in “300,” he said he’s only had a pair of relationships since coming to Hollywood.

“In the last five years since coming out here, I’ve had two relationships. I’m not a big relationship guy,” he said. “One of my vices is, I’m too wrapped up in myself and not always in a good way.”

Still, Gerard admitted he and Jen have become close friends.

“Very much so. Over Christmas, she had a tree-trimming party that I went to. Yeah, I trimmed her bush,” he joked. “S***. Please don’t put that in.”

And though he’s often pictured as calm under fire on-screen, in real-life, he said, he has trouble fending off his nerves.

“I was born into a world of anxiety… I am slightly addicted to anxiety. When I’m feeling anxious, I’ll create more anxiety for myself,” he said. “Like I might call all these people about what’s fun to do tonight and end up with four different options, which in itself would put me into a blind panic; but then I’ll make another four calls just to make it 10 times more anxiety-ridden.”

the more they add to this the more arrogant and insecure he sounds. or? is it just me???

Maybe he's a glutton for punishment. Personally, I don't think he's very comfortable being in his own skin, and feels he needs that social rush. Sometimes the hardest sound to hear is the sound of silence, when you're alone and no one but your inner voice is speaking to you.

My dad is a LOT like Gerry. He always has to be doing something, he can never just sit still and relax. He has mellowed out with age, but he can still be a very difficult person to be around.

Do I really care that his fame has affected his sex life?

well...i just read the whole article that all those snippets came from. (men's journal) it's a good article, and he doesn't come off QUITE as self absorbed. well...yeah. maybe he does, but there really is more to the conversation so it wasn't quite as annoying. and....he at least admits to having slept with ONE of the names he's been linked with.

When I have more money and movies made and magazine coverage than Gerry, I'll consider having a pity party for him.

i agree with you, nay. i wouldn't want to be "famous" for all of those reasons. the money's good, but that's about all that is really. still it seems that lately he's been bringing some of his problems on himself. i'm sure the long term friends really care about him and what's good for him, but are most of them even around now? does he have anyone surrounding him who will actually tell him when he's acting like an ass? does ANY famous person, for that matter?

I concur completely with what Donna said, and I've said it myself....he just ain't comfortable with himself---not to where he can be still and quiet.

Arrogant? Surely. Insecure? Vastly. Anxious? Likely. Whiny? Demanding? To the max.

Still adore the rogue though. And, his honesty.

I agree that Gerry has brought on a lot of negative publicity himself and then it's like a snowball rolling down hill. He might go by the way of the female actresses that get known and famous for their sex appeal and when that goes, they go. He likes to play on the sex appeal thing and keep that shirt unbuttoned down as low as he can.

As far as people around him to guide him a bit, I think a lot of celebs loose that as they go up in stardom as people get afraid to say anything for fear of loosing their jobs OR the people who are supposed to be doing the "guiding" only want to guide them in the direction that will be in their own best interest at the moment. I would think it would be extremely stressful to be a celebrity of that caliber and know who's your friend and who you can trust.

I can see where Gerry is more suspicious (paranoid) of women now just wanting a hook up with a movie star. "Make sure you wear your a condom, Gerry!"

When I read an article in a magazine, I sometimes can hear Gerry saying some of it and some I can't and I don't always believe everything I read as it is apt to be twisted around to make for a better story. Magazines don't sell that have stories about boring people and if you don't love them, they'll make you hate them! Either way, it's all good to the publication.
