Jamie Foxx not stepping into Simon's Idol shoes By E! News
Jamie Foxx would like to take over Simon Cowell's judging gig on American Idol, but the singer and actor is just too busy!
"I would love to do it but I don't think I would be able to do it," he told me at his star-studded pre-Grammy party last night. "I don't think I could fill Simon's shoes, but I would give it another perspective...what I want is for the kids to go from being contest participants to artists and that's where I would come in."
And although his A-list bash at L'Ermitage Beverly Hills was filled with his famous friends including Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Alba, Gerard Butler, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel and Paris Hilton, Jamie dished about who he really wants to see this Sunday at the Grammys...
"I'm looking forward to meeting some of my favorite country singers like Gary Levox, from Rascal Flatts and Miranda Lambert," Jamie told me. "People think it's a little weird when I talk about country music, but they have some of the greatest stories in the world."
He already worked with one country star in Valentine's Day: Taylor Swift. As for his own plans on February 14th?
"I'm gonna chill with my daughter," Jamie said. "I'm gonna be her valentine."
Valentine's Day director Garry Marshall was at the soiree, and hung with lovey dovey Ashton and Demi, who called it an early night. Jessica Alba showed up later, sporting a new shorter do with Cash Warren in tow. Gerard Butler arrived solo and was chatting up a bunch of girls, including Stacy Keibler. He even got a shoutout from Jamie when he took the mic, and announced that Gerry was "dripping with charisma."The party, which began on the hotel's rooftop, had to be moved downstairs since it was still going strong after the scheduled 11 p.m. endtime. Even Clive Davis, who hosts his own legendary bash tonight, stayed late and made a toast to Jamie.
Jake Gyllenhaal (who made a cameo in Jamie's Blame It video) seemed to be doing just fine since his split from Reese Witherspoon.

Stars Pre-Party in L.A. Ahead of Grammys By Joanne Fowler
Angeles got the party started on Friday with a host of pre-Grammy bashes attracting some of the biggest names in music and Hollywood. At the MusiCares Person of the Year gala benefit honoring Neil Young, artists including Dave Matthews, Wilco, Elvis Costello and John Mellencamp performed more than a dozen of the folk-rock legend's classic songs.
After singing "Rockin' In the Free World" with John Fogarty and Booker T., Keith Urban ran up to grab his wife, Nicole Kidman, who was happily singing along to the tribute.
Emcee Jack Black amused the crowd with an impromptu auction of the Ben Sherman shoes he was wearing. Starting off at $5, he kept the bidding going by offering to throw in his socks, and eventually sold the shoes for $600.
Elton John provided a glimpse into his early days as a musician with a story about Young visiting his London apartment in the '70s. "I never forgot your kindness to someone who was coming up," Elton told Young from the stage. "You are one of my heroes."
Meanwhile, on the roof of L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, Jamie Foxx celebrated his hit single "Blame it" with Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, who acted like newlyweds, giggling and cuddling at the star-studded bash. Moore greeted actor Gerard Butler with a hug, and asked the actor and his friend, "You guys on the prowl?" Justin Timberlake arrived later with girlfriend Jessica Biel and his mom in tow. Wearing a black fedora and a black leather jacket, Timberlake carried a bottle of his 901 Tequila and buzzed around asking guests, "Where's Jamie? Where's Jamie?"
Dressed in a suit jacket, vest and tie, Topher Grace danced with a group of girls, holding a glass of champagne in one hand a cellphone in the other.
Jake Gyllenhaal arrived at the after party with a brunette woman who appeared to be friend – and the duo sipped a glass of champagne with Jessica Alba and Cash Warren.
Over at Wonderland, Stevie Wonder, Ne-Yo and Ciara hit the RedZone Entertainment party thrown by writer-producers Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Terius "The-Dream" Nash and Kuk Harrell.
Fresh from the studio where she's busy recording her new album, Katy Perry – in a black party dress and a shaggy beige jacket – made the party rounds starting with the Friends and Family event where she hung out with her producer Dr. Luke.
