Merry Christmas, all!

I survived dinner with family. Got to see my cousin's new twin boy and girl, they're 6 weeks old.

I love chestnuts. We usually cut a slit on the flat side, about half-an-inch, have read that you should cut an X so the corners curl back some when they're done. They go on a baking sheet/tray into the oven, 350-400F, 30-40min, different people give different time and temp. Some bathches cook faster, some slower. Usually one or two explode in the oven. Have fun with them, DK.

How was everyone's Christmas? Steamy hot here. Special family breakfast, gift giving, stayed in air-conditioning. Boys travelled well but are glad to be home though.

Were you reading, Sami? I started "The Tournament" by Matthew Reilly (Australian author) a couple of days ago. A friend lent it to me and he raved about it - a tale of the world's first chess tournament hosted in Constantinople by Suleiman and a young Virgin Queen Elizabeth 1 who travels there with her tutor Roger Ascham. Hasn't grabbed me yet though.

Random:

An inkling tells me 2014 could be an interesting and action-filled year. Maybe it's the fact it's an even number.

I was actually watching episodes of The Twilight Zone from the marathon on the SyFy channel. I'm a night owl, but stayed up later last night than usual.

Random:

Today temps skyrocketed across the country. One place north of Mount Isa was apparently 54 degrees celsius outside. Oodnadatta in South Australia was around 50 celsius and Birdsville in far western Queensland was 49.

That's 118 F and over for you non-linears.

Don't remember how many years the original Twilight Zone was on, but there has been a couple more batches of the show with different hosts.

I thought they neuter dogs when they're like 6 months old.

I'm so annoyed at the weather. When it was freezing here we had no humidity and no precipitation. Now that we're above freezing we get 100% humidity and precipitation. I want snow, dammit!
