I have developed a weird little delight for poking through scrap metal and demolitian businesses. This morning I looked over some old railway sleepers.

It thrills me more to find a little unexpected treasure there than to buy a new piece of clothing (or even shoes)!

I threw out (to be recycled) 4 grocery bags full of miscellaneous papers and a 3-foot tall stack of magazines. My room doesn't look any better. *sigh*

One of this weekend's jobs is to shred miscellaneous papers for recycling so bravo Julie.

Random:

Two hours ago, I had a severe allergic reaction to touching Bud's fur after he rolled on some itchy grubs. Red welts everywhere, heavy breathing and insane scratching. Just now getting it under control. By far, the worst reaction I've had in years.

Grubs? Like woolly bear and other hairy caterpillars? They have tiny little needlelike hairs that are poisonous. It hurts and itches in small amounts. Don't even want to think about large quantities. My sympathies.

Thanks, ladies. The welts have gone down and the itchiness has ceased but my hands are still a little swollen and tight.

Buddy basically rolled in something on the ground and it wasn't until he stood up that I saw the cluster of grubs. Then I brushed him down with my bare hands and the infection spread from there. Consequently, when I was able to, I washed him down whilst wearing rubber gloves. Perversely, he wasn't itchy at all - just hated having a bath. Here's what the itchy grubs looks like.

Hi Em! Lot's 'o stuff going on, as I see you are having a busy real life, as well. Your trip to St. Louis was quite eventful. Glad you and your family were safe (and, of course, our fearless leader, DK, too) Thanks for asking.

And, Nay, those grubs are really nasty looking. Do they hang around all the time? I hope you recover completely soon, Dahling. And as far as the pneumonia, I'm getting better each day. I'm just tired all the time. I guess recovery takes a little longer when a person is old like me. Can't wait for that to pass, because May and June and July are busy months for our family. Thank you, also, for asking.

Random:

A truly spectacular cloud band arrived late this afternoon. Bud and I just made it through our walk before the lightning and thunder started. It was massively high and wide with a wave like appearance. Bearing in mind that NZ had a tornado today, I was in a hurry to get home. Bud's butt dragged on the ground there a few times!

PJ, I didn't realize you had pneumonia. I hope you continue to feel better. Just curious, why are May, June, and July busy months for your family, if you feel like sharing? Do y'all have a lot of birthdays then?
